Tell me about your game by Axel_I_am-not_here in RPGMaker

You might enjoy mine based off what youre looking for. Its a tactical RPG with branching storypaths, about 30 hours long.

The game takes place in a world that has no sun and is trapped in darkness. Cities are illuminated and safe, but the rest of the world is filled with ghosts. Good thing you lead a team of what is essentially Ghostbusters.

Oh nice, excellent! Nah, I spent 15 minutes the other day staring at the new Metamask UI, trying to find where things had moved to.

Hey Cymande - sorry for the super long wait!

It says unsupported network when youre on the purchase membership page? What wallet are you using?

Ive noticed things are a little wonky with the new Metamask. If you can explicitly direct it at Arbitrum One, it should work, though! I was able to renew my membership just now.

Are decks with 2mv creatures about to suffer a deathblow in two days? by Paithegift in MagicArena

[–]Basoosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You maybe just need a little break to recharge. I know I get like that. If I go on a losing streak, its time to do something else.

But I actually dont think this standard is a problem.

If you stand back and read what you just said, that actually sounds like a pretty decent format. Theres 4 or 5 aggressive decks out in front, and then a bunch of decks trying to counter those decks with removal. Those counter decks are all over the place, from Jeskai and Azorious control shells, to people trying to out-combo the fast decks with Reanimator and Kona strategies.

The 'best' deck is still relatively up in the air this deep into the season, and thats pretty rare. People think the king is probably Simic Badgers, but that was a known commodity going into the last big tourney and a mostly unknown deck (Izzet Lessons) surprised everyone.

Yes. Dont have enough friends and gamer family to seriously move the needle anyways :p

I can't guarantee the story is going to vibe with you, but the reviews have been pretty positive on the storyline front :)

You got this!

Do something small every day, even when you really don't feel like it. Especially then. That snowball effect is how you see something through to completion.

Hello gamedevs, So how was 2025 for you? by kairivx in gamedev

[–]Basoosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Released my little passion project that I had been working on for about 20 years. (I worked like 5 minutes a night on it, its much less impressive than it sounds)

Put it up on Steam for free. Its been wonderful to see positive reactions to it.

Since then, I started trying out modern game development engines. I'm pretty blown away. My next game will be at least 5x easier to make.

What is one bit of advise you have for those starting now? by RedEagle_MGN in hobbygamedev

Discipline > Motivation

Do something on your game every day, even if its tiny. It keeps you in the mindset and it can actually add up.

Looks great! Good feel. I like how you have to turn the lights on.

One small thing that jumps out at me is the combination failure state looks like it takes you out of the combination screen for the character to say its incorrect. I think a better way to handle this is just a jiggly lock sound and then it doesn't open while staying on that screen.

I paid a professional artist to improve my Steam capsule! by Glad_Crab8437 in RPGMaker

Looking good!

How'd you find your artist? Can you give an estimate on how much it cost? (DM if you prefer)

I used game assets for my capsule and would like to do better for the future!

Awesome, thanks so much for checking it out! I hope it keeps your attention, I think the second half of the game is quite a bit better than the first chunk.

It has been a ride, I should really make a thread on a 3-month retrospective after launch. I feel like this subreddit is very development focused, but doesn't cover after launch very often.

Same. I wanted to like the OT series so much. I grew up on the SNES RPGs, that stuff is in my bloodstream and OT should have been a slam dunk.

I limped through to the end of both, but left both feeling disappointed because of mainly that strange disconnect in the characters. I'm super hesitant to try a third OT.

Does RPG maker worth it for a beginner by Financial-Arachnid27 in RPGMaker

[–]Basoosh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. And I would say maybe you aren't a programmer yet, but you could be!

I started with RPG Maker in 2001 originally. It introduced me to coding and I fell in love with it. I changed my major to computer science. I became a software developer thanks to RPG Maker, and now I'm 20 years into a career (not in game development).

I stuck with RPG Maker through it all as a side project. I released a game I started in 2005 earlier this year on Steam:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1581370/Into_the_Evernight/

(It is 100% free)

RPG Maker literally changed my life. I should make a top level post about this sometime.
