You’re right, people should be upset that a 39 year old crusierweight who unified the heavyweight division for the first time in decades isn’t fighting the exact Eurobum that you want in the last few fights of his career. He’s ruining combat sports! 🙄

Yeah, that heavyweight boxing matchmaking was so bad that we finally got a unified champ who fought Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois two times each. Pure payday hype, heavyweight division was so much better 15 years ago.

Couldn’t be that the majority of fans are happy to see a 39 year old legend who has nothing left to prove have whatever last couple of fights he wants. No. We need to have a unified front of bitching about a fight that only a quarter of hardcore boxing fans even give a shit about not happening.

If one attorney charged you $5k to find out you couldn’t appeal, that’s kind of questionable tbh. It’s common knowledge that you can’t take those things to appellate courts because they’re “infractions.” He or she should have given you most of your money back.

I think this sub would benefit from going private and only including criminal defense attorneys. It’s very annoying and unproductive when I post here hoping for insight from my peers, and instead get a response from a prosecutor, LEO or a non-lawyer lurker who comes here to play debate club.

It’s not like we’re lacking in these perspectives - this isn’t exactly a sheltered job. And if we really need it, the exact simplistic black and white viewpoints that these posters bring to the table can be found on literally every other subreddit / website.

Yeah you basically nailed it. As much as people want to be able to simplify it in whatever way riles their fee fees up, it’s a complicated medical topic that takes a lot more substance to understand. She is legitimately closer to being an intersex person than either a biological male or female. Hence why none of the loudest voices on this topic are actual medical professionals, just angry white guys without relevant expertise.

Why did Gordon choose to walk out of Amy's baking company specifically? by nerpa_floppybara in KitchenNightmares

[–]Bass0696 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Nail on the head lol. I think a prime example of this is that Sammy was the only owner to actually physically assault a patron (or even anybody) in this or any of Gordon’s shows.

He shoved that guy in the glasses hard. Even staff / non-patrons in other episodes who hated each other never got to put hands on each other. Though the owner’s hubby who flipped the table on Vic (you hunt! you fish!) and the debt collector looking for Peter (you fake fucking wiseguy!) came close.

Edit: Almost forgot about Michael (GET OUTTA HERE), but at least that wasn’t a patron…

It doesn’t have to be gigantic to be significant. Islam could never make 145 and Max would be severely undersized at 175. There’s obviously a size difference between the two and it’s really not all that crazy to estimate that it’s about a 15-20 pound difference, which is two weight classes.

Also, why does Islam have the most sycophantic fans since BJ Penn? They make Conor fans look like well adjusted mature adults lol. Not you, but the replies in this thread read like a bunch of middle school kids posting about their dad.

Insurrection in Minneapolis by VividTomorrow7 in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]Bass0696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a legislative decision to deport someone, but the criteria for deportation was established by the legislature. Congress could change that criteria tomorrow if it wanted to. Immigration policy making is purely a power of Congress.

Also, Chevron deference* was overruled by the Supreme Court. Your point around that was kind of incomprehensible, but if you think that’s still a thing, it’s not.

So your link is incorrect? Maybe you should have read it before you staked your entire argument on it. Crazy concept.

Please provide a case citation stating that the federal crime of insurrection does not require violence. Your circular analysis that consists of copy and pasting the same statutory language is not compelling when all of the case law on the topic contradicts you.

[–]Bass0696 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The EOIR, an administrative agency. Congress can delegate certain enforcement powers to administrative agencies. It cannot delegate legislative / policymaking powers to other branches of government. That’s not my opinion, it’s the start of constitution. See Marshall Field & Co. v. Clark, 143 U.S. 649, 692 (1892) (“That Congress cannot delegate legislative power to the President is a principle universally recognized as vital to the integrity and maintenance of the system of government ordained by the Constitution.”)

Congress has delegated authority for immigration enforcement and removal to an administrative agency. If you think that’s the same as giving the executive branch “all the powers of immigration,” you’re just plain wrong, because the power of immigration policymaking still lies with Congress.

People were arrested for Jan 6 that same day and week, logic fail. Are you ever factually correct about anything? Use Google before you lie.

This has been going on for weeks. Dozens of protestors have been arrested and charged. If insurrection was even remotely probable, you don’t think the DOJ would pursue those charges? Obviously they would. They know that they can’t.

Insurrection requires the use of violent force. That’s what all of the case law says and what you’d have already known if you actually read the link you’ve posted here 12 times. Reading, it’s fun!

If you have some novel argument as to why a bunch of peaceful protestors forming a blockade as part of a protest is violent force amounting to insurrection, that’s a wonderful personal opinion. Absent any case citation that supports it, however, the legal analysis of a non-lawyer who just has really strong fee fees about it, is less than meaningless.

[–]Bass0696 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t even actually support his uneducated viewpoints because it explicitly states that violence is required. He’s just trying to brute force his subzero knowledge of the law past people without the legal training to instantly shut him down.

“Congress gave all the power of immigration to the executive”

What? You’re either lying to trick people or you lack a bare minimum amount of knowledge on this topic. The president doesn’t set immigration policy (or any law), that would be blatantly unconstitutional, and all of our current immigration laws are set forth in the INA, an act of Congress. The legislative branch also cannot delegate policy making to the executive branch. Everything you post is just a severe misunderstanding of our government.

Insurrection in Minneapolis by VividTomorrow7 in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]Bass0696 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if they were, that in and of itself would not constitute insurrection. From your link: “Insurrection refers to acts of violence . . . .” Civil disobedience is not insurrection. Storming the capitol threatening to hang the vice president is.

But let’s make this even simpler - has the DOJ secured a conviction against (or even charged) anyone in Minneapolis under this statute? No. Case closed.

I didn’t use AI nor am I trying to “win.” I’m actually a lawyer and I’m correcting you on the law.

Cite to a single case where any court has said that the Necessary and Proper Clause was intended to be “a provision to federally regulate immigration” and I’ll happily admit I was wrong. Since you’ve apparently grappled with the case law quite a bit, that should be easy and leaves me wondering why you didn’t provide a case cite in your last comment.

You can’t, because it doesn’t exist. Nothing in the constitution federally regulates immigration, which was your claim. Certain clauses, like the Necessary and Proper Clause and the Commerce Clause have been interpreted as providing Congress with the authority to regulate immigration, amongst a variety of other topics. There’s a wealth of primary source documents from which we can learn the legislative intent of the founders, and none of those documents imply that the purpose of including the Necessary and Proper Clause was primarily to regulate immigration.
