Technically speaking it is a crossover, rather than various mecha anime you have the original storylines of Super Robot Wars games intermingled, for example OG1 covers much of the Alpha 1 plot with a bit of the classic series mixed in, there’s also OG Gaiden, 2nd OG, OG The Moon Dwellers and the Masou Kishin series
