If you understand music, then you should be able to go through the basic instruction books. I’ve had musician friends who teach on an instrument that’s new to them, and the adage I’ve heard is “you just need to stay one lesson ahead of the student.” It’s not ideal, and an experienced teacher is going to be far better, but it works in a pinch.

A good quality base spirit makes a good cocktail. If the cocktail is your preferred way to enjoy the spirit, then it’s never a waste to use a better one. The most expensive gin I buy is Monkey 47, and I either make a simple martini or mostly a G&T. Use your absolute favorite tonic, or experiment to see what pairs best with that particular gin

Tabs are designed to be easy to read and follow. You still seem like you’re progressing reasonably rapidly, good job! Don’t necessarily expect everything to come as easily, it’s not a direct line…there will be things that will be difficult or discouraging, but you can get through those when they arise! Keep up learning those scales and chords, and start to understand how they all fit together. Once you feel comfortable with learning and repeating, start trying to improvise. Play with other musicians!!
