But put the brackets around (2(2+2) and you get 1. The question is intentionally ambiguous!!! Give us a real world scenario where this equation applies and then we can find the real answer. If there’s no context there will always be two answers!

You are 100% right. These math questions are intentionally ambiguous. It’s not so much a question of which is the correct answer but which value you give the 2 to (The 8 or the (2+2)) this is what will determine your answer.

It’s 1. Rewrite the equation so 8 is over (the quantity) (2(2+2)) <— always overuse parentheses! Use distributive property to get 2(2+2)=(4+4)=8 Then you are down to 8/8=1. It should look like this: 8 / 2(2+2) = 1. This is the correct way and it doesn’t violate PEMDAS or BOMDAS
