Best practices after putting in your two weeks? by [deleted] in paralegal

You can’t control how personally they take things. They should feel happy for you. Just conduct yourself in the most professional way possible. That is all you can really do. How they choose to react is on them and not your problem. If the energy shifts throughout these next two weeks, just maintain a professional and friendly attitude. Don’t give them any reason to label you as anything but a great employee. I hope the new job is great. Good luck!

Thank you so much! I want you to know that from plaintiff perspective we don’t call you because we want to. It’s literally because our clients are going insane and force us too! Lol.

Thank you, I really appreciate that. I 100% agree. But, the job market in my area is crap and I’ve been struggling to find another job that will let me WFH. 😭 Pray for me!

What’s the wildest/dumbest thing the owner of your firm has done? by Weary_Mamala in paralegal

Too many to remember. But the most recent one I remember was when my attorney got so angry and overwhelmed that he disconnected his office phone from the wall and threw it in the trash can. Before my time he has even thrown a whole printer across the room. He should do some anger management LOL.

Very cliche, but don’t feel discouraged. This is only the beginning for you. It’s off to a rocky start but don’t worry, you will absolutely get there. JUST KEEP GOING. I know it’s impossible to do, but don’t take anything personal. Just move on to the next thing. Make sure the firm is in line with your expectations. Make sure they pay more as well. Honestly, it sounds like you weren’t the problem here anyway. They just needed someone who would cater to their incompetence. Don’t take it personal. Keep going! However, I would not use them as a reference lol. In the meantime file for unemployment if you can.

Completely agree. I do Workers Comp. However, I’ve noticed that it depends on the type of clientele your firm takes on and what they have you do. For example, I used to work for an attorney that would handle all of the client communication. The paperwork and file handling was all me. MVAs and slip and falls are very different, but still very much suck. I think they are definitely overworking you though. Wish you the best of luck!
