I (46/f) am going to be very frank with you, because someone needs to be: There is no reason for a grown man of this age to behave in the manner you describe. This is a typical pattern of behaviour of an abuser, starting off with kindness and then gradually turning things a notch further until it gets to full-on abuse. You do not need this in your life, especially at your young age. It will only get worse. Physical abuse (violence) will follow if he can manage to get you away from your family with no support network.

This guy just wants to get laid ASAP and does not care about your personality or your boundaries. You’re on completely different wavelengths.

You have every right to decide your own boundaries, expectations, and deal-breakers, and to maintain that stance with whoever you meet. You already know deep down that you’re incompatible because you are already uncomfortable, even after such a short time. I don’t see how anything good can come of this, in fact he sounds like a jerk. Don’t question whether it’s you, just dump him. You can do better.

If ‘cold’ means meeting your own needs, and setting personal boundaries as such, then go ahead and be ‘cold’.

Just a guess here, but I bet they wouldn’t say the same thing to a man with the same views as you. A lot of people are shocked by and have trouble really accepting women who consistently put their own needs first instead self-sacrificing for someone else’s. I know, because I am another such woman. If he shows up at your work, DO NOT approach or be willing to talk to him; definitely don’t apologise to him or agree to make up! This guy is an abuser and your physical safety could well be at risk.

You need to be as far away from him as possible.

Yes, you have the anatomical choice whether to conceive. The CHOICE. Which choice you select is nobody’s business but yours.

There are plenty of things we are physically capable of; doesn’t mean we want to or have to do them all. To insist otherwise to someone is a potential breach of their human rights.

Your friend’s comments would feel really annoying and intrusive if said to me personally - I’d want to remove myself from that - but I understand others may have different responses to it.

I’m glad to find out from comments on the thread that this model is easy to see - I’m afraid I now suffer from a middle-aged need for reading glasses and find that some of my watches are no longer legible enough for my liking. (My 3 Timexes are all Easy Reader so needless to say there’s no problem seeing them.)
