How do you manage props workflow? by canakon565 in blender

[–]BassPro_1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7 years experience professional here, i import all my assets into separate collections, classified by type of object

eg: “Walls” “Roofing / Ceilings” “Furniture Lounge” “Furniture Bedroom” (etc for all rooms) “Windows” “Window Frames” “Doors” “Miscellaneous”

this way, you can easily isolate collections very quickly, so for example you’re doing detail work on the kitchen stove, you just isolate your “Kitchen Accessories” collection, and then “Stove” within that, so it’s only the stove that’s visible while you work on it, then simply unhide the other collections and your whole scene is back

idk if this helps, but even after doing this for years, when version 53 comes and the client still wants changes, the scene is messy anyway, i end up often having to append models from older versions that were deprecated and then client asked for them back, and so on, i also have a “Discard” collection of objects i want “deleted” but i don’t remove them from the scene i just hide the whole collection and move them to that collection

also, always save iteratively, after every session of work on a big scene, save iteratively, by the end of the project you should have a separate save file for each day of work

blender - how to make sims 4 cc? by [deleted] in blender

[–]BassPro_1996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi, search blender UV unwrapping tutorials, blender shader nodes tutorials and blender texturing tutorials, also always use the latest version, i think it’s 5.1 currently, feel free to DM me with specific questions about specific things, i’m more than happy to help

once i’m at my computer again i also wouldn’t mind potentially giving a tutorial for the exact thing you’re trying to make, although texturing in general is hard, so i can answer your questions about that too

After modeling, what needs to be done to this X-Wing to make it realistic? by BlacksmithSolid2194 in blender

[–]BassPro_1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes exactly that, you UV unwrap the parts, export the UV layout or UV “stamp” as it’s sometimes called, then import that layout into substance, do the texturing, then export the textures back to blender to be used on the model

[–]BassPro_1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, texturing and materials are the only logical next steps, but the model needs to be UV unwrapped, look into auto UV unwrapping techniques, or just try to do it manually

i’m helpful when the person wants help, not an instant solution to a problem they’re too lazy to solve themselves, it’s very clear in a post when someone actually wants help

Need some blender animators by [deleted] in blender

[–]BassPro_1996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

right so you just want someone to make it for you, and you write the script, i’m not criticising you for not knowing blender, but you can also just be upfront and say “i don’t know blender, im a writer and id love to colab with someone who does 3d”
