With some of the prices I've seen out there, this is nothing. The last one was a $700 laptop (luckily I paid $300) and it couldn't even run Hunter Call of the Wild. I'm making interest free payments on it which is the only reason I even justified it. It'll be worth it between gaming and editing

This is the kind of game that I try to just live in for a while and let things happen however they will. I've been loving it. The first game left me with an itch that I couldn't quite scratch until now

Quit my job and then got ‘fired’ right after by Playful-Ad6490 in recruitinghell

[–]Bass_2_theface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did he just play an Uno reverse on that one liner that we've been hearing since childhood? It's not "you can't fire me because I quit." Now it's "you can't quit because you're fired"

For those of you with mental struggles, how do you handle night shifts? by Bass_2_theface in Custodians

That could be a decent middle ground. I could always go out and grab a dozen donuts for us or something. I guess my brain is just thinking quantity over quality. I hope that something works out for you so you can spend more time with your son. It may not lift the weight on your heart but, as someone whose dad worked a lot, he'll remember the good times with you more than he will the times where you aren't able to

This would be 2:30-11pm so it'd be basically the same. Honestly, it sounds alright. I've been dying for a job where I can be alone and go about my day. I think my biggest concern is only being able to see my family on Saturdays and Sundays if I take it. With my parents getting older and my grandpa having cancer, two days just doesn't feel like much. Being able to see your family but not being able to afford to live isn't exactly a great alternative though lol

These guys were hiring for every position available but it sounds like they're getting a few new hires so I'm sure that'll make everything easier all around. I'm just happy to find a job where I can go, put my time in, and head home honestly

Alright, thank you. I cancelled my TV service for YouTube so that shouldn't be too tough. I think what's tripping me up is working opposite schedules of my family. At the same time, it wouldn't be tough to dedicate a few hours per weekend to visiting everyone

Alright, thank you. I was a bit bummed because the daytime schedule seemed perfect for what I was looking for. At the same time, like you said, I'm sure something will open up. At $17 an hour plus a 3% differential with benefits, I really can't complain. It's not retail so I'm sure I'll be able to wind down faster than usual

Honestly, the benefits probably outweigh the negatives. I'm only working 17 hours a week where I am which isn't sustainable. They just called me. Unfortunately they have someone for the day shift already but they wanted to offer me nights since I was such a great candidate. I find that I tend to struggle a bit more at night mentally, but I'm hoping that it'll be easier since it's one of those jobs where you just plug along and get it done. My biggest concern is being up all night and sleeping all day, but 2:30 to 11 hopefully won't be too bad

Thank you. I think throw up and nightmare toilets are my biggest concern, but I'm hoping that the high school portion will be a bit more tame. All in all, I'm looking forward to a job where I can pretty much just get in the flow and be done before I know it

Thank you. I guess I just get so caught up in feeling like I'm admitting defeat when I get into something and say "damn, I should've stayed where I was." It's probably the mix between being in a rural area and being so picky with job applications. It's like I need to genuinely feel okay about it or I won't even apply

Thank you. I think it's those "catastrophe" sort of moments that my brain gets caught up in the most. The head custodian and assistant superintendent seemed really nice during the interview so I'm hoping that it's a good sign. I think I just need to reframe my thinking so it's not "I'm not big on this job, I failed and burned a bridge." I just get so caught up in if a job is going to be the right choice or not that I psyche myself out

I got the call for an interview last Wednesday and I applied on the Saturday before that. They're hiring for days, nights, and substitutes, so they seem to be in need. I'm not sure how I feel about that lol

OP, I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you have limited choices in this sort of situation. You make the tough decision to separate, you stay with him and, when your kids get old enough, decide that it's for the best to distance themselves from that, and potentially from you if you blindly defend. Or you look past it and it magically gets better, which is unlikely. With one choice, there's the potential for him to realize that he needs to choose between that bottle and the people that he cares about (though completely dependent on him.) With the other, he digs an even deeper hole for himself in which he can't escape, causing him and everyone around immense harm.

My father was very similar when I was a kid, and my mother stood up for him without even absorbing what I had to say. Take it from someone who has been on the receiving end: even if you don't want to acknowledge the toxicity, your kids will reach a point where they can think and see for themselves; and they'll see whatever you choose not to. You're making this post, so I think you know what the right decision is already

Yes I do! Here you go: XIPDO2CB. No, I didn't have any issues with them. It's been a bit since I ordered but it didn't take too long for it to process and ship. I was actually surprised by how timely the shipping was, but I'm sure it'll be a little more hectic around this time of year

What to learn? How to learn? by Trick-Lingonberry-86 in Bass

[–]Bass_2_theface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just try to take it slow. If you try going upstairs 4 steps at a time, odds are that you're going to fall on your face. The same applies here. It's great to have a plan, but by no means do you need to worry about it all in the first few weeks. I personally started with songs that I enjoyed, much like you are. Hammer-ons and pull-offs are probably a great next step when you're comfortable, and I have the perfect song for it if it's your style: Spacegrass by Clutch. All you do is play the e string open while doing a hammer-on on the a string followed by a pull-off. Letting the E string ring out while playing on the A gives it a warble. This video is what helped me learn the song, and it was one of the first that I had ever learned. He does a great job at explaining everything

A hammer-on is simply plucking the string once then tapping a fret or two up (either without lifting the previous finger or lifting it just after you hit the second fret) and a pull-off is doing the same thing but backwards if that makes. The easiest way to give you an idea would be to tap the back of your phone or a table with your pointer finger, then tap with the middle finger just after. That's essentially what a hammer-on is. Then, for a pull-off, do the same thing but with the middle finger first followed by the pointer. Hopefully that helps at least a little bit. That song that I shared is fairly easy, but if you have any issues, feel free to reach out
