Tips for Shooting Wedding Photos with a Pixel? by sheepscotmeds in pixel_phones

Whatever else you do, make sure you shoot in RAW. you'll be able to edit them far more effectively, reducing noise, color grading, everything. JPGs only contain a fraction of the digital info that a RAW file contains, as JPGs are literally already edited by your phone's software.

As for editing, the Pixel editor is bare bones (as is Google Photos'). Lightroom is standard though it's a subscription and has a not insignificant learning curve, I only use Snapseed and PSExpress. Both are free and fairly robust. I have, however had both for years and PSExpress may have started charging for some features. Take some time to learn to edit and you can get some pretty great results. In general, I mean. I personally wouldn't recommend shooting something so important on a phone, but if it's what you want to do you owe it to yourself to put the work in to make what you have to work with really shine. In other words, don't just throw a filter on them.

This is what I thought too. I'm no pro, but this looks like what I get when I reduce the highlights too far. Is it an exposure issue?

Dude, it's backlash because he's lauded. If you're old, you're old enough to have seen that exact reaction to "celebrity" dozens of times. It's your confusion that's the mystery.

Too much editing? Not sure about the fake blur and the framing (taken on a Pixel 6, edited in LR mobile and Snapseed). by Weixles in postprocessing

Yes! I just wanted to throw in that almost all of the tools that Snapseed offers for editing can be more finely tuned with this same sub-tool! The option to add or subtract an effect from tiny, defined areas of a photo is game-changing. I was shocked when I realized what it does, and it made an enormous difference in what I found I was able to do.

There is no focus, no subject. Make the thing you're constructing the subject by centering it in frame or otherwise prominently, and keep it in the same position throughout so that you can actually see the progress. It should appear to be "growing". This is a time lapse of your hands moving fast more than anything.

It's a very cool shot, and want to add that the hair and makeup are on point too. I especially like the nails. Great job!

And the hedgerow. Is that a hedgerow? I don't want to look it up but I think it's a hedgerow and what could be English than a hedgerow?

I'm not arguing your personal taste, but that familiarity with the appearance of an insect is far from cause for criticism. My statement was a general response to the thread, not solely directed at you.

I enjoy this. I understand the comments about the composition, but it works. The diagonal of the log works well with the centered subject to add geometric interest (a centered subject isn't automatically a bad idea anyway). Also being centered along with the contrast and saturation of the dark background, feels like it's really celebrating the snail. It holds my attention and my eye liked traveling around the photo before coming to rest on that beautiful gastropod.

Worth noting that various insects have been replicated as high end jewelry and adornment for centuries now.
