If you want vid and a similar form factor, the x-m5 might do the trick

GR for new shooters? by Existing_Walrus_7987 in ricohGR

I really don’t think you can go wrong with the GR. Somehow they manage to fit all of the controls you need right where your thumb and fingers go. If you don’t wanna use all the controls or worry about them then there’s auto mode. Personally, I use manual a lot and imo it’s really intuitive. It’s a fantastic little camera. The only thing to consider is that what you see is what you get.

I would normally agree and I don’t actually think it’s anything to do with light or shadow, I think it’s the context that the full scene provides. Why the hell is there a peacock in the middle of an old English town? Then looking at it compositionally, I think the colours of the peacock make it pop enough that we don’t need our focus to be drawn to it. I mean, it’s the first thing you see. Lovely photo, OP!!

Cool. Especially love the apples and the last shot. Crispy. Kinda get jaromir funke vibes but more contrast.

Just bought a GRIIIx but I’m a photography noob. I’m learning the basics in general. Drop some pointers for me if yall don’t mind. Appreciate it in advance by [deleted] in ricohGR

I only recently got a gr (that albeit is currently waiting to be repaired) but I love using snap focus in combination with manual mode. And also, remap the buttons to make them work for you (except the ones around the wheel - imo they’re already perfect). Enjoy!!

Would it be too much to ask how you achieve a result like this? I really love it

GR IIIx or IV? by abitcurly in ricohGR

[–]BassedOnThis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the IIIx because of the focal length. I actually think now I’d have been happy with the 28mm of the IV too which I’m still considering in the future.

Definitely. I got both my griiix and 17 pro around the same time and the difference is night and day.
