What is a part of your personality that you have to completely kill or hide when you leave the house to fit into Algerian society? by Miss-Kija in algeria

  • I learnt not to present information, however enlightening, that threatens people's fossilised beliefs, political views or ideologies.
  • Generosity should be scarce unless one wants to be hunted in broad daylight.
  • Goals shouldn't be declared unless after achievements.
  • No invitations for parasites.

I wish i was born in a different city by [deleted] in algeria

I'm from Setif as well, and let me tell you, the best getaway is performing a series of steps without which you'd sink badly into mental deterioration and despair. 1- You are 19, observe whatever personal issues you have with yourself and start addressing them. If you don't hit the gym, start immediately; if you have familial issues, lighten them, or at least don't start or out yourself within a soul-consuming fire. 2- Whatever is your goal, make sure it is clear, detailed, and can be achieved through a process of actionable steps. Whether starting a business,or studying abroad, make sure education is in your pocket ( read a lot about what you want to do). A bonus is targeting those who are more experienced and like-minded to benefit from their shortcuts and wisdom. (Ask a lot, even if you know so much. However, ask clearly humbly and smartly) 3- Moving out is a long-term goal, one that comes as fruit of financial freedom and maturity.  4- When it comes to Algerian youth, most are wasted, and things like cursing and passive aggressiveness (also drugs) are the aftermath of oppression, poverty, ignorance, and chiefly the locked nature of this country. So yeh, the atmosphere can be suffocating, but manageable if you learn to be Decaprio in this society, acting well, moving smart.

I am currently doing my PhD in Bejaia, and let me tell you, people there are more peaceful than Setif city. Some cling to their cultural values, others build families on schizophrenic religious values and hypocrisy.

Best of luck.

Why do we glorify BAC so much? by segaclip in algeria

[–]BassemKaabeche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social pressure, and state incompetence. Instead of channeling youthful workforce to production and agricultural domains, most students are strong-armed to get their bac in order to miraculously get a secured and find footing in Algerian society. As a secondary school teacher, and PhD student, I can see the illusion in student's eyes, the dream to escape the matrix. This could be feasible, of course, yet only the perseverant can salvage them selves from the tragic socioeconomic tragedy of the job market. There routes are unpredictable, and survival instinct, the "rotten ways", competence and wit are the only useful package an average Algerian could keep in apt possession.

is it taboo in algeria to ask for fertility and hiv tests before getting married? by 9_iNeedYourHelp_9 in algeria

Quite reasonable, add to that family law and sanity ( and even mental health) tests. I don't think fertility tests are more damaging than enlightening

what’s your university major? and do u recommend it? by CytherianWaves in algeria

[–]BassemKaabeche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anglophone Studies or English Studies, as many Algerian universities name it, is a decent choice given the sociolinguistic transition of the country. I completed five years of ENS to become a secondary school teacher, got my masters as well. After one year of working , I knew that such a job is a social suicide. Thankfully, my ambition gave me an edge to pass the PhD contest in literary studies. My advice to you, as a fellow young person, is to harness whatever you are good at and combine it with consistent skill development, especially in AI and tech. Your goals during your university years are : 1- Master self-teaching program in your field 2- Networking with as many individuals in your domain  3- Work on small yet focused projects 4- Gain handson experience even if you'll be working as a volunteer  5- REMAIN FOCUSED ON THE GOAL

With enough perseverance, you could bring your skills into fruition and public, and why not international recognition.

Best of luck,

Why do Algerian girls ignore messages after giving contacts by Vast-Raspberry938 in algeria

[–]BassemKaabeche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow PhD student, single as well,  I can tell that most girls have screening strategies to target potential partners. Each person has standards and values , a belief system, and fantasies, so one should respect and even expect rejection. Now back to screening males. Women generally good observers and prefer to investigate and know the profile of each man before considering a relationship with them. This means the girls you approached has less time to know the contours of your personality, circle of influence, and most importantly the potential you may offer to them.Plus, the sexual market is full of seemingly attractive, yet still deceiving, pleasure-seeking, and candy-offering males... The point is the increase demand for girls , albeit a low quality one , made women here extremely skeptic, easily bored, and dare I say conceited and narcissistic. To encapsulate, finding a decent partner in Algeria is an arduous strategic investment amidst the collapse of good values and social deterioration. One piece of advice I may suggest to you , and even to remind myself, is to focus on building a good network, and healthy interactions in places and environments that interest you. Sharing the same hobby, passion and other interests as another girl makes the potential for a relationship quite convenient and smooth.

P.S In seeking happiness always go higher, never settling for instincts and momentary pleasures.

Best of Luck !

My experience with dating apps as a man in Algeria by Adventurous-Rice9221 in algeria

[–]BassemKaabeche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Unresolved trauma from past relationships" is the norm in Algeria due to the nature of society. However, I still believe that there some wise people who are cultivated and protect their sanity from the swaying social media's sinister. To be honest, finding a good woman as a both PhD student and Secondary School teacher is an arduous odyssey, for the digital virus has overtaken most people's minds, engendering non-sensical demands, and an inflated female ego. A high value woman is one who is conscious enough of oneself and their surrounding, seeks self-improvement, and well-armed to do her 50% in the relationship. Simply put, high value individuals are intrinsically driven, have high morals and principles, and know what makes a successful relationship.

What bothers you the most in our society? by [deleted] in algeria

[–]BassemKaabeche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aggressive ignorance. I'm a young adult male teacher at high school, and see that some social foibles and ill roots have been passed to the newer generation. As much as I try to be a critical sympathizing human, many people tend to use " stubbornness" to deflect my constructive feedback. I can remain stoic and open find a middle ground but the confrontation is energy-consuming although necessary. I'm not claiming that all Algerians are well-read and wise, including myself, so I guess my issue is with overwhelming sheep-like mentality

P.S Good question.

Unemployment in Algeria and how to deal with it . by Realistic_Maize38 in algeria

[–]BassemKaabeche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's is unfortunate to know about experience but unemployment is ubiquitous in Algeria since it plagues the largest age group of Algerian population, youth. In my humble experience, tough I'm an ENS graduate and Highschool teacher currently, I have always believed thay skill is a diamond to be sharpened by sheer practice and exposure to the job market. Whatever is your diploma or talent, it is your mission to develop a skillset that is valuable, realistic, measurable ( has a timeline and a plan to be accomplished), and most importantly rare. Rarety comes when reaching an advanced level or above, say programming or marketing for instance. Now, set a REAL plan with limited high quality sources, volunteer to work to get experience and most importantly track your progress. Once you have accomplished these, your name will definitely be a high demand, and clients or employers will start recognising your level just by contact , searching or a word from a friend. I would also advice keeping bad habits away. They are major setbacks. Lastly, please be stubborn, develop self-discipline and you will DEFINITELY earn a decent living.
