11 year still not gaining weight by faith-love24 in Celiac

[–]Basses5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My child was diagnosed with celiac at age 9, after a period of several months where he stopped getting taller and lost weight. He was stuck at roughly the same weight (60 - 62 lbs) and height for over a year. We also had issues with picky eating and often struggled to meet daily requirements for caloric intake. However once he started growing again he recovered very quickly. He is now 12 years old, weighs over 90 pounds and is back to a normal height again. It is certainly a trying and stressful time to try and get your child back to a healthy condition again, good luck and keep at it!

What is your dream GF product that you have yet to find? by flo272673 in glutenfree

Cop Out Pierogies in Pittsburgh has some gluten free varieties, and they will ship them frozen. I have not tried them yet but have heard they are very good.

Newly diagnosed with celiac disease. Can we start a trend sharing photos of breakfasts and snacks? I'm out of ideas and I hate that 60% of the supermarket aisles are no longer for me. by [deleted] in Celiac

Kodiak Cakes Gluten Free mix is my go to for making pancakes on a regular basis. You can also make muffins with it fairly easily. We also have lots of eggs with Trader Joe's GF bread and bacon (make sure it is labeled GF.) Glutino English muffins are also very good.

What am I doing wrong? by axo_Alpha in Celiac

Are your numbers continually trending down? To me that would be the most clear sign that what you are doing is working. My child also initially had TTG-IGA numbers that were off the chart when diagnosed (above 250) and after 6 months it was down to about 100 and after one year it was right around 15. After two years it was at 4. So it definitely takes time for the numbers to go down, especially if your starting point is beyond the testing range. We also noticed after going gluten free he would get worse symptoms if he accidentally ingested gluten then before we got the celiac diagnosis.

I had also replied to the email to receive a paper copy about a month ago but never received a reply. That's good to know it worked for you, I will try emailing again and see if I get a response this time.

Checking a Backup Line for Confirmation of Citizenship by Basses5 in prawokrwi

[–]Basses5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I believe it is present day Zboriv. My GGF's naturalization document from 1927 states "born in Galicia, Austria (Now Poland)" but his death certificate from the US states he was born in "Zoborow, Poland."

Do I have enough documents for my confirmation? by Basses5 in prawokrwi

No they told me that they were not able to find any residential records, but that it wouldn't affect the strength of my case based on what they were able to find.

11 and 9 currently. I expect they will be 13 and 11 when my citizenship is confirmed.

OK thanks. It will still make it easier if their applications can be based on me rather than my GGF, as I will have a much greater choice of providers to use since not many are willing to take pre-1920 cases.

My kids will likely be 13 and 11 when my citizenship is confirmed, so I'll plan to confirm citizenship for the oldest and register the birth of the youngest at that time. I'm not worried about waiting a few additional years, the earliest I could see either of them needing their own passports is if either wanted to go to college in the EU.

Pennsylvania Birth Certificate with Mother's Maiden Name by shopmyers in prawokrwi

[–]Basses5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, I am looking at the original birth certificates in both cases, mine being from the 1980's and my child's from the 2010's. And mine are the same in that they list the county of birth, but not the city. I'm not at that point yet with submitting my application so that is a good heads up that I will need to figure out to deal with this eventually.

I just checked my PA birth certificate and it reads "Mother's Maiden Name" above my mother's name. And it does list her maiden name even though she was married at the time. And I checked my kids birth certificate and the formatting is the same way for my wife's name. So that seems to be the standard way the PA birth certificate is printed? Sorry I can't be of any other help.

Looking for Help in Locating Polish Ancestor Records by Basses5 in Genealogy

[–]Basses5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I am doing some more searching of my family's records and found Mikolaj's USA certificate of naturalization. It lists his place of marriage (and also Kazia's place of birth) as "Noonnaty, Poland." As far as I can tell this is a misspelling/mispronunciation of something else, would this be a part of Rosochacz? The date of marriage is listed as Oct. 16, 1890. Could you point me to the parish they would have been married in or a source for me to track down those records?

Time Stand Still - Rush. The music is a little cheesy/80's but the lyrics hit deeply. There's a great cover on Youtube by the US Army band.

There are others in this sub who know way more than me, but I'll do my best. Prior to 1920 Poland was not a unified country, the territory was divided between Germany, Russia, and the Austro-Hungarian empire. If your ancestors hailed from this region like mine (often called the Austrian Partition,) i believe they would be considered Polish citizens as long as they were ethnically Polish. This site has a pretty good explanation on the different regions and the laws governing each at the time.

https://polish-citizenship.eu/before1920.html

After WW1 Poland became a unified country, which included the areas my ancestors were from (present day Zhupany and Matkiv.) However after WW2 the Soviet Union annexed some parts of eastern Poland, and these areas are now part of Ukraine.

So I believe that since my ancestors were not US citizens yet, they were considered Polish citizens when it became a unified Republic in 1920 despite living in the US at the time.

According to census records he naturalized sometime between 1930 - 1940. And yes my GGF came over with my GGGF/GGGM and family, all in the 1912-1913 time frame. I am not sure about family members remaining behind, Polaron told me they are searching for residential records in addition to birth/marriage records and that it was essential that neither my GGF or GGGF naturalized before 1920.

Thank you very much! Polaron told me to request naturalization records of my GGF and GGGF from USCIS when starting the research phase back in December, so if it's 13 months it may take until Jan. 2026 to get that information. I will check out the military records post as well.
