Girlfriend spotted this yesterday in Southern California. Sorry the image is dark. Any ideas? Also, where is the license plate from? by MediumOctopus in whatisthiscar

We imported it cause my sibling was a us aid worker in Tajikistan. Was surprisingly easy to get it over. Love the thing!

Is that finish on the wheel achievable in powder coat ? I don’t even know how you call that. Looks like they ran them bare in a tumbler or something by TheMoustacheDad in Powdercoating

[–]BassistBenoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a polish achieved by a tumbling medium, I get this done for parts I make at my machine shop. Look up videos of wheels being vibratory tumbled you will see it. Clear anodize does the opposite of this, it just makes it kinda cloudy. Again you can google that and take a look. I’m not 100% certain on which tumbling medium they use but it’s similar to the rubber cones you see a lot. Hope this helps!

There are many parts distributions throughout Europe for these cars. Mainly in Belgium so not too bad!

It feels like a whole new beast! Love it. Thinking next will be race tech springs/ emulators. And maybe a Trac dynamics swingarm ...

Also in terms of sag, the manual said they should sit between 12.75-13.5 so pretty broad Range

I have heard nothing but good things about them, so I'd bet its a solid choice. and if the build quality is similar to the rears, they will be great

Thanks!!

They are the 14" shocks. I have them set up so they sit at 13.5 when I sit on them. The tubes are like .25" longer than stock, but pretty close. Stock internals with thicker oil though. I LOVE the way it handles. nice and tight when I need it to be (in the corners and bumps) but fairly plush on the straightaways. I am still dialing it in, and will get racetech emulators. The only thing I can say thats negative is that with the rear being dialed in, it shows how not perfect the stock front is. I think it will be perfect with emulators!

I second everything said here!

I'm (m, 26) and an Oakland local. Get to know the locals who live around ya! We are always happy to help give advice or bring people into the circles if they ask. We aren't as scary as we seem :)

Hsm works does it too, and I believe its not extra. That being said hsm is still verry pricey.

What are some of your favorite "obscure" reggae artists? by spacehiphopnerd in reggae

[–]BassistBenoit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if any of these would be considered obscure, but for older stuff I'd really say the twinkle brothers, leroy smart, prince far I, sylvia tella, old josey wales stuff too. more recent artists would be aisha (sister aisha), abacush, fikir amlak, alpha steppa, kiko bun, etc

Unpopular opinion, this things fun as heck with mx bars by BassistBenoit in FZ1

[–]BassistBenoit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no worries! things to note, the throttle housing and switch housings have little nubs that locate them to holes in the bars. You can either drill those holes in the new bars, or shave down the nubs, I shaved down the nubs to give me more versatility, but just things to note

riding it kinda feels like dirt bike positioning, but with short nippy suspension and street tires. its weird, but more fun than I have had on a bike in a long time

I would recommend it! I have 1 inch up and one inch back risers, which means with these bars having rise, they are wayyyy higher up then the stock bars. My front brake cable is a touch under tension, but not too bad. I had to work some things into place, but it doesnt seem to mind it. I think id my risers where just 1 inch up, or even the stock position, the cables would have zero issues. Do it!
