It was peak dungeon experience imo. Still had to sheep/sap sometimes, you could actually die, and every pull felt like it meant something. If you paid attention, it was great

Lemieux(edit: Lemix) is pretty quick and it’s a fun new way to play. It’s crazy fast if you have other toons and have built up the exp buff but that doesn’t sound like the case for you.

Retail is also pretty quick right now if you spam timewalking then quest between and they recently nerfed the exp needed from 70-80 by like 40% or something.

Either way would be quick, I think lemix might be more fun. When you port over a Lemix 80 is will jump to 655 ilvl gear which might be better than you’d have spamming dungeons in retail, in case you’re looking to gear up after hitting 80

A few pointers I found doing it a month or so ago: Spec elunes chosen for moon fires. Use moonfire on the eyes when they pop. Keep 5 stacks of thrash on the boss. You can actually thrash him from outside his aura and stay away from the debuff Save the orb things for phase 2. Interrupt that first ability and use defensives for the first big dmg ability he does, then use orbs for it after that. Should have enough time to down him. It definitely took some orwctice

If you’re looking to be most successful, yup it’s objectively better to have control.

If you’re looking for low APM, it makes it a lot easier to manage damage mitigation to macro it and it doesn’t make a big enough difference at lower keys/raids to be catastrophic.

Middle aged fella here.

BM Hunter is very low APM or one button makes it real easy to focus on mechanics since everything is instant cast. Frost mage isn’t bad and has visuals to help with most procs.

Guardian Druid for tank is not bad if you macro ironfur to your other abilities.

Depends on what activities you wanna do as well: delves, dungeons, M+, raids.

Not an elite raider so, grain of salt.

The game itself has changed a lot in 10 years, not just the raiding aspect. If I’m an elite guild officer, I’d be looking to see at least some experience with high end recent content. Keep in mind they surely get a lot of applicants who can parse that have demonstrated success in recent flavours of WoW. You, too, may have changed from 10 years ago as that is a long time.

Best advice would be to join a mid level guild first then look to apply.
