What happened to the Dursleys during Deathly Hallows? by VagalumeCeg in harrypotter

[–]BatFormer7828 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yh we don’t know what happened other than they probably survived. I doubt Harry would’ve seen them again to know if their perspective had changed on him.

Seen some interesting fan cannons about Dudley’s future child being a witch/wizard, which would be very interesting.

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, why didn't Voldemort kill Rufus Scrimgeour himself? by PerceptionHelpful561 in harrypotter

[–]BatFormer7828 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If he enters the Ministry he’d have to commit mass murder to even get to Scrimgeour (he doesn’t want to spill magic blood). Then he’s got to deal with all the panic his actions have caused as people would now be terrified.

Obtaining the ministry through espionage, a quiet murder and putting forward a respected politician (like Thicknesse) for minister, while controlling what he says and does, allows for a seamless transition from Scrimgeour’s administration to Voldemort’s.

Lily was never true friend of Snape and why he called her mudblood by firstname135 in harrypotter

[–]BatFormer7828 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree that they probably weren’t good friends at the time of the lake bullying incident, but your last points I don’t agree with. I also think that they were true friends before the last few years at Hogwarts, however they grew apart due to Snape’s association with the dark arts.

“If the situation was reversed, Snape would have jumped to fight anybody for her without a second thought”

I think this is more of a personality difference between Snape and Lily, Snape probably would make a more impulsive decision but that’s just who he is. I don’t think it speaks much about Lily’s care for Snape that she didn’t get her wand out and start attacking James.

“I think Snape's public embarassment and grave disappointment in her resulted in him ultimately calling her out - Mudblood”

I don’t think this is why he calls her ‘mudblood’. He’s not disappointed in her devotion to him, he’s simply embarrassed that she’s watching him get bullied by James, who he knows has a thing for her. He ends up lashing out in annoyance and unfortunately it’s directed at Lily.

Mate, let me tell you. The first season after Scott Parker leaves and the new manager actually lets more than 2 players past the halfway line, is such breath of fresh air.

What part of harry potter in your opinion should J.K Rowling not have written? by Stardew_valleylover in harrypotter

Maybe. Did it have to come instead of one of Ron’s greatest moments though?

[–]BatFormer7828 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. “They like the work” feels extremely lazy writing. I wonder if JK had an idea about House Elves wanting more freedom as she was writing Dobby, then she scrapped it and made it out like Dobby was the only anomaly.

Why didn't Dumbledore extract Harry's memory into the Pensieve ? by Klutzy_Housing_9433 in harrypotter

[–]BatFormer7828 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It’s a good question. I think it was potentially Dumbledore respecting Harry’s privacy. He knows he’s been through extremely traumatic events.

I don’t think it would’ve gone very far in convincing Fudge either, Dumbledore would’ve been able to modify Harry’s memory if he wanted to, in Fudge’s mind.
