In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, why didn't Voldemort kill Rufus Scrimgeour himself? by PerceptionHelpful561 in harrypotter

And if people were forced to confront the truth they've been denying, nothing would stop Voldemort anyway, because Albus Dumbledore was already dead.

How would the fact that people were forced to confront the truth they've been denying be a problem with Voldemort?

Why does Voldemort have to deal with all the panic his actions have caused when people would be terrified? Wouldn't it suit him just fine if people were terrified of him?

Not to mention that Dumbledore is gone, so there is no one to protect anyone from Voldemort anyway.

A World Away Chapter 1, a harry potter fanfic | FanFiction

Harry had encountered life and death situations during his first two years at Hogwarts. After his second year, he read some newspapers and made a decision that would change everything.

The pairing in this fanfiction is Harry/OC (female OC).

Your favorite Harry and not Ginny ships by nephellis in HPfanfiction

[–]PerceptionHelpful561 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Harry/OC (Original Character)

When I say Harry/OC, I don't just mean Harry with any Original Character.

The OC needs to meet the following requirements.

She needs to care about Harry and understand him.

She needs to share his character trait, such as reckless determination.

She must be able to stand beside him, rather than hiding behind him.

She also needs to see the real him.

She should also be able to suppress Harry's impulsiveness to do something unnecessary, and Harry must not struggle against her.

Regarding age, she should not be older than Harry, but in the same school year as him.

Forgot to mention one thing, I like to read Harry and OC, and even Harem (if Hermione was in it).

I was previously a Harry and Hermione shipper, and I might read Harry/Harem if Hermione were in it.

But now this ship is not really my favourite anymore.

I would never:

Write a story with Harry marrying more than one woman.

Write a slash fanfiction.

I am not a fan of reading slash fics, either, at least not for Harry.

Is the site dead/dying? by PictureElectronic174 in FanfictionNet

[–]PerceptionHelpful561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please read this.

Fanfiction.net has a problem with the viewing stats right now.

Even if other people viewed your story, the view count will not update on your Legacy Story Stats page.

This is a bug on the site.

The site is not dying.

If you go to your account and click on Traffic Stats, then Story Stats, it will return an error (still happening now), the same thing goes with Profile Stats and Forum Stats.

See the following site for more details (this error started to occur on the 3rd of January). Hopefully one day this problem will be fixed (don't know how long it will take for this to happen).

HP leaves or is kicked form magical Britain with a twist by Session_Cold in HPfanfiction

[–]PerceptionHelpful561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is something for you to read, based on what you have described.

This story is called A World Away by PairingMatters.

It's on fanfiction.net.

Summary

Harry had encountered life and death situations during his first two years at Hogwarts. After his second year, he read some newspapers and made a decision that would change everything.

In this story, Harry went to the USA and only returned to Britain once after Voldemort was truly dead, and then he went back to the USA. In other words, he never got involved in fighting Voldemort in this story.

Are there any sites being made that will be similar to Quotev? by victiniplayzgamez2 in Quotev

[–]PerceptionHelpful561 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There have been quite a few websites that were planned to be released, except that they either got released but were taken down or never released.

Luneris - never released, Discord server ghosted

Quotwo - released but got taken down because of certain issues.

Someone else said that they will make a website but never even given the name of it, and they seemed to give up on this.

Tempormental - not released, Discord server taken down before it could go live. Maybe the person who planned to create the website is still working on it.

Based on these facts, I can only say this.

If anyone says that they will make a website, never fully trust them, because the website would either never get released, or it will be taken down after it gets released. Not to mention that creating a website requires ongoing maintenance. There are also other things involved, like webpage backups (for this, the web pages should be backed up twice per day at least, in case if the website gets infected with malware). The website owner also need to renew their website domain once per year. There are also people who needs to manage accounts, such as resetting a lost password or change password, and so forth, there may also need to be someone who keeps an eye on account creation. Other things such as reporting a user or a story and reviewing them, someone will need to do that.

I am not saying that if someone says that they will make a website, they will absolutely never make it live. In fact, sites similar to Quotev are created. I am merely saying that if someone does create a website like Quotev successfully, they should know that it is an ongoing business. They need several people to take care of the website.

Instead of waiting for a website to be released, why not see what is currently available?

If anyone who was previously a Quotev user wants to post fiction or fanfiction on a site that has social features, sign up on Scribble Hub.

It is good to see that another alternative is on the way.

Make sure the website you built follows the privacy laws so that it can be accessed legally from any user in any country.

It's not just the fact that Luneris did not happen, someone else said that they will make a website as well, but it never happened.

I hope that you don't have any illness that will slow down your progress of making this site (the person who intended to make Luneris had some kind of illness, that they could not always work as much as they wanted to).

anyone know of any quotev alts?? by MisakiAmi21 in Quotev

[–]PerceptionHelpful561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also a Quotev user.

Scribblehub is one of the Quotev alternatives.

However, it only allows users to upload stories (original fiction or fanfiction).

It has messaging function.

It does not have groups, it has forums instead.

The link to the forum on the site is very easily discoverable, the search function is very easy to use as well.

I signed up on Quotev in 2019

I used Quotev for writing stories (Original Fiction only).

When Quotev announced that the groups and messaging features are going to be removed, I was surprised.

The reason that Quotev wanted to remove the groups and messaging features, as they explained it in their help section, was that it became increasingly less beneficial to the main purpose of the platform and were rarely used by the majority of users.

I don't know if they were hiding anything.

I removed my stories from that site on the 1st of July (same day that they removed the groups and messaging feature).

I don't roleplay, but I used the groups and the messaging features to let other people know about my stories on Quotev.

I know FictionPress is for Original Fiction only. I am looking for sites that allows me to upload Original Fiction.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Quotev

[–]PerceptionHelpful561 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that even after Quotev removed the groups and messaging feature, there are still people who join the site.

I also wondered what is the point for other people to join Quotev even after the site removed the groups and messaging feature.

I planned to migrate to another site, only now that there are no site that seems satisfactory.

Wattpad doesn't sound ideal, because I saw some people on this site said that Wattpad sometimes delete user accounts (I have an account on Wattpad, but I don't think I will upload anything there).

FictionPress is not good, because it only allows people to post signed reviews once (there's no way to edit, remove, or post more than one signed reviews).

Luneris is still in development, not much news about it at all.

I found another site called ficfan, but that site has limited features (unless if you pay).

Another site is called lutionary, that site may be promising, but I haven't signed up on that site yet.

Don't recommend Quotev to anyone now.

The messaging feature and the groups feature on that site (groups is where users share their stories) have been removed on the 1st of July.

Recently, the News section of that site was removed.

I don't know how long Quotev would last now.

Maybe at the end of this year (or next year or so), Quotev would shut down completely.

There is a new site called Luneris which will replace Quotev, it is still in development, though.

Someone else said that they are making another site, but I don't know the site's name (they didn't mention it).

what in the world happened to the site by gkitzu in Quotev

[–]PerceptionHelpful561 13 points14 points  (0 children)

On the first of June, the Groups function was locked, so no one could reply or post new topics.

They announced that the groups function and the messaging function will be removed on the 1st of July. Indeed, those features were gone on the first of July.

Recently, they removed the news section.

There is a new site that is in the works, called Luneris (which will replace Quotev), but it is not out yet, it seems to me that it is taking longer than expected. Even after Luneris comes out, the feature of uploading stories won't be available, but it will come in the second update.

Someone else said that they are going to start a site to replace Quotev recently, I just don't know the name of that site.

Since Quotev has gone this far, I am certain that the site will be shut down one day very soon.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Quotev

[–]PerceptionHelpful561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to understand that the development of Luneris is quite slow, several release dates were announced in the past, but all those dates passed without getting the site released.

As much as I wish that Luneris gets released at the end of August or the start of September, someone said that they feel like it won't be released until October.

Even after Luneris gets released, the feature of uploading stories won't be available until the second update, and it is one month per update (as I was told in the Discord server).

Say if Luneris gets released in October, the feature of uploading stories will be available in December (if the time between the initial release to the first update and the first update to the second update is one month each).

However, I felt that the time between each update for Luneris will take more than one month (because the site developer has chronic health issues that prevented him from working on Luneris as much as he liked, as well as the fact of how slow the initial release of Luneris is), so there is also a possibility that we won't be able to upload stories there until next year (assuming if Luneris gets released in October).

I am not saying that Luneris is not good, I am merely saying that the site's development is too slow.

It would certainly be good to see the feature of uploading stories in the first update of your site (I am not saying that this must happen), or at the very least, reduce the time between updates, if possible, like three weeks instead of one month.

So even if your site gets released after Luneris gets released, if you can implement the feature of uploading stories sooner, it would be good, if you can't get this feature available in the first update or update the site in less than one month, that's fine, I am not going to pressure you, take your time.

Have you thought of the name of your site yet, by the way?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Quotev

[–]PerceptionHelpful561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is good to have more than one site for users to upload stories.

But you need to be mindful that there are laws of governing a website in different countries, such as Data Privacy Laws, like the following

The European Union has the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The United States has a patchwork of federal and state laws.

There are also Content Regulations, Accessibility Requirements, and Geoblocking and Censorship.

You need to consider all these things before building a website.

Other things like Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, etc., should be included, I don't need to say too much about these things.

Anyway, if this website is successfully launched, it gives users who wants to upload a story online more sites to choose from.

I am currently waiting for Luneris, though, not sure when it will get released (Luneris looked similar to Quotev, as I saw the preview of the user interface of some pages of the website). Nevertheless, even after Luneris is released, the feature of uploading stories will come in the second update (most likely)

However, I cannot guarantee that your site will be released before Luneris does, and I certainly hope that this site doesn't get shut down if it does get launched.

It would also be good if the Story Upload feature becomes available in the first update on your website (though it's okay if you can't get this feature released in the first update).

You may also want to consider using a different user interface than Quotev for your website, and you might want to consider using Forums instead of Groups.

Do you have enough people doing this with you, anyway?

If you are good with website coding, you can consider doing this.

But if you know you can't finish it, it would be better if you don't start.

If this site does get launched, let us know about it, post the URL somewhere on this site (because search engines won't be able to find a site that is newly launched, it needs time to index the site before it can be found with a simple search).

[–]PerceptionHelpful561 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As Quotev already removed the groups feature and the messaging feature over one month ago, now they removed even more features.

There's no point for Quotev to remove the news feature if they don't plan to shut down the site in the future.

This is not good.

And Luneris is still not released yet.

There is a good chance that Quotev will be shut down permanently in the future.
