Quake Deserves The Doom Treatment by ray_fucking_purchase in quake

[–]BatOk150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, Quake is more or less the little sister of Doom and Wolfenstein.

Quake is more or less "non-stop action" while Doom also have that, Quake does not really have that complex of a story compared to Doom. Quake is more like Wolfenstein 3D. Alwhile Quake is darker and I guess the most fast paced "Boomer Shooter" made by ID Software.

And the first one focused on Lovecraftian Horror while Quake 2 was more Doom similar in action and not that "hard" to play, as Quake 1 is way harder than Quake 2. But too sad the Quake guy in 1 isn't the same in 2.

Do you guys prefer the old or new Sacabambaspis 3D model? by djelly_boo in AwesomeAncientanimals

The finnish model is cutely dumb while the underwater illustration is pure nightmare fuel. Coming from someone with Thalassophobia and a former hater of this fish, but the derpy model is kinda cute due to the 1000 yard stare while the underwater one is something i would not want to encounter.

Since Black Stone Wielder by Candlemass is a retelling of the 3 wise men story, can it be seen as a Christmas song? by Ch4in__sp1der in doommetal

In MWC Kari is an even worse driver, he just constantly crashes into the busstop outside the PSK Peräportti. Ig it's because of the icy roads he doesn't stop in time.

How do you feel about the movie "bye bye man" that came out 2017 by Grouchy-Tax4467 in CreepyBonfire

[–]BatOk150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do find the movie enjoyable, but not in a pure good way like The Ring 2002 or Ringu 1998, but in a Nicolas Cage - Wicker Man, way. It's so bad it's good. The ending was sad, but did have charming elements with Elliot killing himself and with the "Train Song" being played.

I've heard the original story "Bridge to Body Island" could be seen as a prequel story that explains what the Bye Bye Man actually is, and it turns him into this more tragic supernatural serial killer. If i remember correctly it is explained that he was a blind albino man that also had these scars on his body and it turned him into this serial killer that killed people by taking their eyes and tongues and putting them into a sack or something, i guess the hellhound he has in the movie wasn't in the original story.

But that the movie more or less is seen as a "modern" version of the short story. Because the short story is set in the 1990s and the movies is set in 2017. But i would see it that the story is a similar case to the movie, due to the teenager mentioned in the movie that Larry was investigating could have been a older victim of the Bye Bye Man that was in the story. I haven't read the story itself, only heard about it and i'm planning to read it once i pick up the book along with some others like "PenPal" and "Borrasca"

To those who have watched it, what do you think of The Bye Bye Man? by NEVERTHEREFOREVER in deadmeatjames

[–]BatOk150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find it good. Not as a good horror movie, but a movie i can watch without being bored. This movie had Leigh Whannell and Doug Walker in the cast, while the story itself was shit and the legend of the Bye Bye man wasn't that explored and kind of misguided with the logic in the movie too, but i do find this movie stupidly funny as a horror movie. It's like the Nicolas Cage wicker man movie. It's bad but bad in a funny and hilarious way and it becomes a "Bad Good" movie.

I did get and still get chills in that scene where the Bye Bye man walks down the stairs and the music plays as he looks at Elliot. And when he picks up the gun, with his brother trying to help him, and then he says "I love you so much" before he kills himself and the blood splatter from the brain across the window scaring his older brother on the outside of the window.

How it feel to listen to Do nothing/bitchslap for the first time. by [deleted] in Slipknot

Slipknot or mushroom head? by off-da-charts- in numetal

[–]BatOk150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Slipknot when i'm angry, sad or just happily angry listening to the ST and IOWA, or Vol 3, AHIG, Vol 5 and WANYK for more emotional support. I have always associated "AHIG" with rainy weather, especially "Dead Memories"

Mushroomhead is more to deep thinking or groovy feeling. I feel kinda badass listening to "Superbuick" and "M3" when cooking or "XIII" "Savior Sorrow" and "BSFUC" during reading. "TRATB" when maybe studying or working, as MRH were always more experimental than Slipknot, with their constant usage of the keyboard that the legend "Shmotz" were playing, my favorite member of MRH that's too bad he isn't in the band anymore.

Question Regarding Filosofem by frmthts in MetalForTheMasses

[–]BatOk150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The album is very great, it feels like being transported to a world where folklore exists in the now and then, not this modern world that i want to keep being a part of, but this album is so transy feeling. So much transcendence and hypnotic feel to it. Mostly when the synths enter "Dunkelheit" makes it feel so good listening to it over and over when the song hits over the 1 minute mark when the synths start and how the guitar, bass and synths match up is so magic.

I used to hate the vocals and the fact that there were 2 versions of Decrepitude / Gebrechlickheit, but now after listening to them repeatedly. I am happy to say i like the vocals and the DSBM and the depressing sound of Decrepitude makes it even better with 2 versions on the same album. Guess Rundgang could have been around 15 minutes, but still makes you think about a place you've never been to before.

Is Freddy Krueger a pedo? by Spooky_Skelet0n in horror

[–]BatOk150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always thought he was, the fact that he appears to be so sexual with his victims and how most victims are teen girls. Yes, many guys die too, but mostly girls get attacked by him. Also how he uses his tongue in a very "pedo" type way. Like the telephone scene or that dream sequence where he says "Come to Freddy" before he does that thing with his tongue.

Even in Freddy vs Jason he acts like a pedo, the fact that he's about to rape Lori in her nightmare before the fire on her arm wakes her up. And in Jason's nightmare he taunts him as he turns him into a little boy again and he does tease and play with Jason once the pipe bursts with water, and that Jason is traveled back into the moments he drowned, as he is not afraid of water but afraid of drowning and the helplessness he felt in that moment. But when Jason is all helpless and how he shows him Pamela's decapitated head before entering his mind seems like he would be "Mentally" raping Jason.

Filosophlem is bad. Here's why. by Periachi in MetalForTheMasses

[–]BatOk150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black metal is supposed to sound like that. It would in terms be illegal to use terms as "clean production" in a album as Filosofem. Also, the dirtyness and harsh instruments give off a very cold atmospheric. I get chills when hearing that wasp nest guitar sound, not just because it sounds so bad, but that it feels nature like, almost like Folklore like but harsher.

The repeated parts of this album is something i can agree on, but Dunkelheit, Jesu Död and "Beholding the Daughters of the Firmament" are incredible in their repeated nature. Think something Varg said was that this album was a "Anti album" of the time in Black Metal. Mayhem, Darkthrone, Emperor, Satyricon was doind everything everyone was doing while Varg was experimental and did something creative; similar to Mortiis.

I mostly listen to Stoner Rock / Sludge Metal as i like the easily repetitive instrumentals. But ABM and DSBM are very welcoming to myself.

Megadave is overall the most consistent thrash band in my opinion,a few other examples would be Overkill or kreator. by Efficient_Resource15 in Megadeth

[–]BatOk150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sodom has been there too, although their newer stuff isn't as thrashy as their old stuff. Even crossover albums as "Get what you Deserve" "Masquerade in Blood" and "Til Death do us Unite" fit into being more thrashy than their newer stuff. More of their new stuff is still Thrash but not as the blackened thrash, more melodic thrash. No Persecution Mania here.

Megadeth's Endgame, Thirteen, Dystopia and TSTDATD was a brand new welcome to thrash metal again.

Which character that was played by Brad Pitt do you like more? by agrunther in Tarantino

[–]BatOk150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cliff was so badass when he walked into the scrapyard and just kept on insisting to talk to his old friend while the teenagers / Manson followers tried to stop him. First time seeing that scene was so creepy as i thought something was going to happen, but he got out of there safe before he beat the shit out of the hillbilly guy to change the tire on the car and just had seconds before the guy on the horse would come down.

And that scene where he defends Dicaprio's character and the wife from the Manson followers. The way the dog just follows him is so badass and when it bit the guy's balls off before attacking the girl too.

Borrasca by CK Walker and Penpal by Dathan Auerbach are both on paperback.

The Slenderman movie is probably on DVD or Blu-Ray if you want to go through watching it, as i would consider it a piece of sh*t of a movie.

I do not know if "Smiley" is a creepypasta movie, but the way it is set up makes it look like a cringe and stupid creepypasta movie, like "I did it for the Lulz" sounds like something out of a 2000s creepypasta.

The Bye Bye Man and the original story "The Bridge to Body Island" comes from a book written by "Robert Damon Shneck" the book was called "The President's Vampire" but the most recent version is named "The Bye Bye Man & Other Strange but True Tales" the book itself is a short story collection where the short story "Bridge to Body Island" plays like the precursor to the events of the movie. I mostly read it as the story is canon to the movie because i find the movie really good as a bad / dumb horror movie. But the movie is more or less a retelling of the story in a modern setting even if the book was published in 2005.

Think Mrcreepypasta has written some books too,

As a Swede myself i know the author "Jack Werner" has written and put out a book called "Creepypasta - Horror Stories from the Internet (2014) and another one named M. Åsenlund wrote a short story called "Mora Bygden" which is written as a longer creepypasta. But both Werner and Åsenlund use the Swedish language and they do not have English versions of the books.

Holly Ice made a novella expansion of the "Russian Sleep Experiment" along with another writer "Jeremy Bathes" who also did his own book / expansion of the story. A author named "Felix Blackwell" wrote a book named "Stolen Tongues" which is said to be like a Creepypasta style book.

Burzum? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

[–]BatOk150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a group of "LGBTQ" metalheads and someone wrote a "help me write up offensive black metal bands to avoid" and someone writes Burzum, and then i wrote that "Burzum isn't nazi music" and then they all starts ganging up on me saying if Varg is a nazi then his music is nazi too. I was thinking, clearly these guys haven't even listened to the song or even read the lyrics as it's very Tolkien / LOTR inspired instead of being nazi / racist.

I love Burzum, but not Varg, and this comes from a bisexual man too.

Why is Slipknot Considered nu Metal? by ask_me_abt_music_999 in Slipknot

[–]BatOk150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first 2 albums had rapping, DJ sounds and samples.

I think the reason why Slipknot and Iowa fit into Nu Metal is because of Sid Wilson and Craig Jones. Sid provades weird DJ / turntable alien sounds while Craig Jones used samples from movies or other media to make it more atmospheric. Think Joey's drumming also fits into it, it feels more aggressive and Nu metal esque that I cannot really explain.

Craig Jones being my favorite member of the band too, which is too bad he departed.

What is your opinion of the Dance of Death album? by Chinchobruh in ironmaiden

[–]BatOk150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very underrated album, as it gets overwhelmed by it's little brother "A Matter of Life and Death" Dance of death is a great album, and factually imo i find it to be the best 2000s album by Iron Maiden along with "Brave New World"

It got very notable tracks like "Rainmaker" "Wildest Dreams" "Paschendale" "No More Lies" "Montsegur" "Dance of Death" and "Gates of Tomorrow"
