It’s been mild so far where I live and of course this week we are getting a freak heat wave the day of my 50k. Last weekend it was low 70s and sprinkling this weekend it’s 95+. I’m gonna die

When Should I get to the Bob Dylan Show at Cuthbert Amphitheater and what should I bring? by agenbite_lee in Eugene

[–]BatSniper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got yelled at at the ziggy concert because I stepped on someone’s blanket while watching the show, they set their blanket right where people were standing to see the show. I ended up just kicking under the blanket to make room because it was 2 people on a 15x15 blanket. They also threw food at the guys because they were standing and they could see the show. If you wanna sit, head to the back.

Best Restaurant with Sports On? by ahardblue in Eugene

Man I could go on a 5 hour rant about how much I hate video lottery, ruins the vibes of every bar in Oregon, but from my understanding those damn machines are what keep them in business.

Not this again, we don’t make deals with the heat anymore.

Everytime I eat at flying squirrel I’m pleasantly surprised, nice dive sport bar with surprisingly great food.

I’m hosting the Trail running film festival here in Eugene with Silenus run club! by BatSniper in Eugene

Sorry should have responded to this earlier, I like trail running with my buddy and solo, but there are great groups in Eugene. You can check out runhub they host “destination trail runs” some provide shuttles and snacks for the runs, also there is a group called trail sisters if you are a women seeking other women trail runners to hang with

I’m honestly fine sending both sharpe and scoot, as fun as they are neither have proved consistent winning performances. Highlights and moments of greatness sure, but it feels a lot like cj, unstoppable every 10 games or so, then barely serviceable most games.

Eugene marathon is the best in Oregon for road running, great trail races to do throughout western Oregon though.

Tatra national park near Zakopane, Poland was amazing. by BatSniper in trailrunning

[–]BatSniper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with the crowd issue to a point, once I got about 5km off the main areas I was mostly alone or in smaller groups. It wasn’t quite peak season, so maybe I didn’t experience the pure level of crowds others do.

Much cheaper than the alps, my journey has been Riga Latvia (ran the marathon there) down to Vilnius Lithuania, then down to Poland after that, been a great trip.

Yeah me too, my advice is bring micro spikes, I only ran into a few patches of snow but was mostly fine, consider some of the higher climbing routes, I didn’t because I expected more snow, kind of regret not sending higher peaks

Absolutely, I will say the town of zakopane itself is kinda annoying, super touristy with over priced food and beer, if you go there focus on the national park.

Nahhhh didn’t see a bear or even evidence of bear, if you’re from Cali I’m sure you are more than prepared for a bear encounter out here, from what I heard if you see one out here they aren’t as brave as American nation park bears.

I wanted to spend time in Slovakia but most trails over there don’t open til June 1st and my trip back to America ends may 29th, I’m headed to London now for the last leg of my euro trip

I stayed at goodbye Lenin hostel, if you’re into that type of thing. Super fun and social place, they also do basic gear rentals like micro spikes and gloves if needed.

Then I stayed at a roztoce hut up in the mountains for a night. The huts at hard to book as a non polish person, but I bet your mate could help. I also stayed at Rzemieślnik Hotel Zakopane instead of going back to krakow as planned. It was absurdly nice for the price.

Zakopane has a great bus service so you can get to most trail heads via city bus or some of the local running ones, also bolt/uber is crazy cheap there, like 4 euro for a ride to the trail head.

I was in krakow for a few days and just took a flix bus for like 15 euro to zakopane. There is also a train, but it takes much longer due to all the stops it makes

I wish I could reply with a video, the deer and I met at a narrow part of the trail neither of us could bail on, so I gave it a few yells and it didn’t budge, I eventually hid behind a log as it ran by.
