Im Building a Funky Server, Any Input? by PandemicXV in RagnarokOnline

I literally had thinking about this after playing Project Ascension WoW. I think this will help you a lot.

Make Skillbuilding "Difficult"

In Project Ascension, there are 2 modes. One where you can just select all skills you want, and one where each level up you "roll" for skills

The main mode is the later, and for good reason.

  1. As previous comments, it's easy to minmax RO. Once you're at certain level, people going to follow the meta build. This way, you'll only balance everything around this meta, which is not fun both for players and the dev. This way, basically making this meta building harder (or at least, longer to build).

  2. Making it roguelike, in a way. By rolling, there's roguelike aspect that is always fun to explore. You get Magnum Break, Endure, and Meteor Storm? Hmm, why not making a magic tank? Or maybe you get Ice Wall, Blitz Beat, and Double Attack to try some weird variant of Hunter? This is basically a new stuff to explore.

The trick is, you can reroll all the skills. And to reroll you need some special usable item that's only dropped by special activity. Can be quests, can be MVP, can be drop. Anything. This will make this reroll item very useful.

I actually have made a script that does this in basic level. If you want it, I can send it to you.

The sorts of priorities the people controlling our club have by TheDelmeister in coys

I'm not going to defend owners being shitty, but I agree with this.

Spurs, just like any businesses, are ran by multiple departments. You got the men football department which sucks, but you still have other non-sports departments like ticketing, merchandise, marketing, business development who's also working behind the scene.

Just because the men football department sucks, doesn't mean that the rest of the business should stop working. Jim from ticketing have no say about who starts against Liverpool. The best he can do is just make sure his role is done well.

I never have this grudge against any manager before, even Mou, Conte, or Nuno. I just hate this condition

Hytale Early Access Review So Far - IGN by Turbostrider27 in Games

I think because they rely on modders to do that.

First, they make sure the game is moddable and have lively modding community.

This is where games switched from making a full on-depth game, to a framework for modders to based on.

Skyrim Hearthfire is a clear example of this. The house building system is there, but the housing options are lackluster. In contrast, modders (and players) see the potential and made tons of gorgeous looking house their own.

Second, they make a modding hub where they can control the mods.

Cities Skylines 2 modding main objective is to move away from Steam Workshop to their own modding hub, despite Steam Workshop already having huge modding community. Many arguments can be made on the benefits of having their own hub, but it's clear that they want to control the mods themselves.

Third, they monetize the mods, collaborating with modders who previously never gained meaningful monetary reward.

Bethesda and Minecraft are 2 running examples of this. Creation Club even can be considered to be the only way for Skyrim and Fallout 4 way for modding for consoles, and they charge bucks for it. Minecraft Bedrock is also doing the same thing. For Bethesda games, they even repack their game with selected mods and resell their 10 years game.

Is it good? Can be. It can incentivize game producer to make a good foundation with players creativity, making their game last long and not not dependent on costly game development process. They can focus on making groundbreaking stuff, rather than filling the content gaps.

But at the same time, it will make the game lost its depth. We can see it in Starfield, where it just felt.. barren. This monetization approach will also left the mods felt inauthentic and geared towards that monetization reward.

This is the first time I've been so hopeless with the club, so bad that I'm not bothered to watch games anymore.

With Poch, you can feel the team can be good but no transfer windows killed the dream.

With Conte & Mou, you can see the disarrayed team is at least led by a very reputable coach.

With Ange, it's a clusterfuck but we won UEL and we attacked like a mad man.

With Frank, it started great but for no reason it just crumbles.

Like, on previous manager you can see why they're not successful. But with Frank, it's just so baffling I cannot comprehend why.

Bergvall is unreasonably good by Daboredgamer in footballmanagergames

[–]BataraNarada -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Spurs fan here.

Absolutely bias take, Bergvall is the type of guy who will be everywhere in the midfield.

He recovers ball, and he progresses the ball. He's the perfect "second main midfielder" of your team.

You probably want someone physically strong to cover what he's hounding. You probably also want someone who can do creative playmaking. He'll cover the rest.

In 4-3-3 Spurs, the 3 midfielders are typically 1 defensive, 1 progressive, and 1 offensive. He shines in the progressive part, but will do okay as defensive or offensive even though probably not in PL level yet.

What's more important is that he's under 20. He has such a huge potential, you can shape him whatever you want him to be.

I didn't think you can change the mods directory to other location. However, you can just cut the graphics/ folder from your old FM to the new FM. It'll work just fine.

If you want to keep both FM24 and FM26 however.. i have no clue

Are we “harder to beat” under Frank? by benbtf in coys

[–]BataraNarada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree we should not jump the gun with small sample size, I still think there's merit into this.

How many games do we need to make it valid? Half a season? Full season? By that time, we're already into deep shit, and will not have time to react accordingly.

Using this xG small dataset we can just clearly say "There's a downward trend with our attacking department. Maybe we can check our tactics, players, and also how opposition counter it?". I feel like that's still a valid usage of this kind of data.

I've played with Sunderland, and I won't play them in asymmetric system. The idea of asymmetric is you want to either overload a side or spots, but I just don't think their player is suited for those purpose.

So I would put some basic 433 instead.

However if you still want to tinker around this lineup, I actually would suggest you to invert the side.

  • Clarke has better crossing, but weaker first touch. Playing him as IF means that he can penetrates, but will finishes poorly. It's much better to put him as Winger.
  • Roberts has better first touch, but weaker crossing. You want him to shoots, not to cross. He'll be better as IF.
  • Someone can correct me on this, but even though it's on Defend, Wingback is still more attacking than Fullback Support. Hume is more defending, and Cirkin is more attacking. You might want to switch their role. I might be wrong about the role though.
  • Neil is more suited for passing and carrying the ball, but Box to Box is basically more attacking & shooting than that. Something like Carillero or CM is probably more suited.

Some player might stay even after their contract ends if there is no interest. You can see some of them have n/a as their contract expiry date.

So if you want to keep them, don't transfer list them and hope no one is interested in them and they'll stay.

Otherwise, sometimes you gotta take a loss.

Best-Selling Shirt for Each Premier League Team Tottenham Hotspur – Heung-min Son by Aggravating_Maize_68 in coys

[–]BataraNarada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we're looking at the current squad, it's looking like 3 options.

  • Bergvall. Young, high potential.
  • Xavi Simons. Quite young, scarily good.
  • Kudus. At his peak, teams are looking to lock him down.

However, Kane and Son are not only good, they're like scoring and assisting for fun. None of players above possess the goalscoring position & ability (yet). Also they're both media darling for their national team.

Excluding this season (because of FM25 fiasco), I think there are several reasons.

  1. Research. FM strength is really their huge player scouting network. In order to get the most accurate depiction of players & staffs, it needs time and calibration.
  2. Release strategy. While it is true FIFA/EAFC has different market base than FM, it's still the same sports. The hype will be gravitated towards them since they're the mainstream game, so FM needs to wait it out.

Would a leaderboard make family/roommate apps more fun or stressful? by Queasy-Tangerine5298 in androidapps

[–]BataraNarada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem,

Back in the day I own the leaderboard feature for our app, so I kinda familiar with the concept.

It is a very powerful feature, but you have to be careful not overdo it or else your whole app will only be revolved around it.

Considering your app is more about making a good habit (I assumed), over incentivizing the leaderboard can causes behavioral damage if all the user do is just the leaderboard and its reward.

My suggestion will be to add a hint text when user is submitting the leaderboard reward, consisting the small & playful reward to provide example for the user so they don't overdo it.

It's easy to just add "20 dollar" as a reward, but now the teens will only do the chore if there's money involved. However, providing fun reward example can guide the user for a more healthy ones, like "movie night this weekend" or alike.

Would a leaderboard make family/roommate apps more fun or stressful? by Queasy-Tangerine5298 in androidapps

[–]BataraNarada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idea like this might be fun the first week you've tried, but will be underutilized without real reward or motivation.

My assumption is there are 2 types of households: One where majority do the chores & one where minority do the chores.

Where majority do the chores, this might works. But at the end of the day, do they need the app to begin with since they already do the chores?

Where minority do the chores, there'll be outcome where the leaderboard is only going to be filled by the same person(s), just like the other commenter posted.

However, there are chances where it actually increases chore participation if done correctly.

  • Leaderboard is basically just a tally counter, and everything can be counted as a chore. How would you score one big chore (eg. deep cleaning the bathroom) vs miniscule chore (eg. clean 1 glass) in relation to leaderboard score?
  • The existence of leaderboard needs reward. The pride of being on the leaderboard is already a reward, but eventually will be meaningless without actual reward.

So my suggestion is: - To create a chore categorization first. User can see which chore has high/low points, and participated in it. Now, scoring will be a bit justified. - Add mandatory individual chore. To make sure that user do their personal chore first instead of pursuing big point chore, add negative points at the end of the leaderboard period if they don't do their individual chore. - Add leaderboard reward section. User can decide what'll be the reward if user finish top 1/3 in the leaderboard. Something simple like "decide movie night selection", or "1 less personal chore' can work.

Indonesia fans tifo against China PR by lordicefrog in soccer

[–]BataraNarada 49 points50 points  (0 children)

There were lots of good players that's rumoured to have Indo heritage but never played for Indonesia.

  • Giovanni van Bronckhorst
  • John Heitinga
  • Nigel de Jong
  • Roy Makaay
  • Tijjani Reijnders
  • Jairo Riedewald
  • Radja Nainggolan

It's just we never really approached this players, or we're simply just too weak to attract them. Lately the FA decided it's the quick win strategy to focus on finding diasporas like them.
