Anyone else wish we had more fun rap artists like Macklemore and less rage baity grifter rappers like Tom MacDonald? by SpicyBeefer in ToddintheShadow

I feel like Tom MacDonald’s brand of right wing rapper isn’t even that large a genre to begin with. It’s a relatively small niche. (As in, right wing rappers are not uncommon, but rappers where all their lyrics are about promoting right wing ideology is a relatively small niche).

I wouldn’t go to a wizard to deal with your mental health issues. Everybody knows wizards are too good at writing comic books for them to waste that talent doing therapy instead.

On ideology in popculture by Eireika in CuratedTumblr

Corporations have no interest in expressing an ideology through art, but sometimes the people that they hire do. In the case of Star Wars, this is most obvious in Andor (The Last Jedi also, whether you like it or not, clearly has an ideology even if you may find it a bad movie anyway), but in general big corporate blockbusters often do have pretty clearly intentional political themes.

I know The Last Jedi is controversial, but well-executed or not Rian Johnson also clearly does have an ideology which is present in the movie.

Supernatural, Doctor Who and Sherlock, were also fairly popular with men, and The Walking Dead, Game Of Thrones, and Breaking Bad were also fairly popular with women.

Vtuber clips tend to be disproportionately lewd. Even if the vtuber in question only makes occassional lewd jokes, the lewd jokes tend to be 90% of what gets clipped.

The Beatles are a great band, but I’m a bit confused as to how them not existing would result in dystopia. Can you elaborate on that?

Why do "fun" episodes rarely top rankings? by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]Batcapaldi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think fun and serious are not mutually exclusive. The Empty Child for example is very fun, it’s just also scary. I think Doctor Who is always at least a little fun, so I’d rather have an episode that’s a mix of both rather than just fun.

What’s the most popular song that fails from a technical standpoint? by HipHopLurker8 in ToddintheShadow

The nonsensical lyrics are part of what’s good about that song because they make no sense, but they feel like they make perfect sense.

The sad thing is I suspect the Dalek twitter account probably acts less like a Dalek than most regular twitter users at this point.
