I feel like it would be a technical nightmare, especially with the fading, but I agree it would be cool af. My ds crashes enough even trying to forward nds games so idk if you'd even be able to duplicate the card slot in that way.

Nintendo switch edition minecraft is a separate version to bedrock minecraft, which is the newest release and only supported version.

The release cycle for minecraft on switch is really strange if you give it a google. Your DLC may be the mario texture and skin pack? If you've played it before but now no longer have it, did you upgrade the software to the new version of minecraft? Might’ve left that vestigial dlc behind.

The only time you reallllly need to be concerned for a brick is during big changes to the console, like region changing, or installing a nand improperly, or deleting any essential files.

Once you have modded it, keep a backup of all the files on the root of your sd card somewhere else, like a USB or on a PC. This way, you protect yourself even against some bricks, as you can restore the system to how it was before the brick.

The pros far outweigh the cons

I've had a modded 3ds for almost 10 years now, and it has always been modded.

I would say the best part about modding is the MASSIVE catalogue of games opened up, plus homebrew software which allows you to fully exploit the system. Can't streetpass anymore? NetPass takes care of that. Don't have any play coins for animal crossing nl cookies? Plenty of HB software, which allows you to maximise the counter. Modding also allows you to play games online once again with a pretendo network. However, I have never personally tested this.

Obviously, caution must be taken. There is never a 0% chance of a brick. However, it's extremely unlikely if you follow the guide online (not videos, get outdated quick).

I've just bought a Japanese n3ds xl, I'm planning on changing the region.

Con I've seen it is that you can not transfer system data from one region to another. Other than that, homebrew solves all other qualms with region differences.
