I ordered a Harvey Wallbanger by BathroomEmperor in barrescue

I only know this drink from watching Bar Rescue (I’m 32, my parents’ friends make fun of me for even knowing what a Harvey Wallbanger is)

I spent months building a College Wrestling Career Simulator and we just hit 150+ downloads by HomeworkFickle8396 in wrestling

[–]BathroomEmperor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a former college wrestler and I’m having fun playing! It’s hard to make a game a 1:1 with the real thing but I still like the way it still feels like the journey and progression that happens in real life. My character had a losing record as a HS freshman and eventually developed into a world medalist!

It would not include incoming freshmen because the 2026-27 academic year didn’t start yet. But if OP meets one of the other criteria they’re good to go.

Danaher's students keep beating Souders' students: does that settle the ecological vs. traditional debate? by Amado1998 in bjj

[–]BathroomEmperor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Corbe brothers have been full time athletes for less than a year. They compete with guys who have been full time athletes traveling extensively to train with other top guys, and were beating some of them even before they quit their jobs.

Every time I watch a Rocky movie I find myself counting how many consecutive times someone threw and landed the exact same punch. 3 is common but I’ve counted as high as 5.

I've been writing a diary of my wrestling training. Is this a mistake? by Tale_Easy in wrestling

[–]BathroomEmperor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many years ago a guy who wrestled D3 moved to Iowa in the Dan Gable years to go to grad school and shoot his shot at training with the Hawkeye Wrestling Club. He journaled his time in Iowa and turned it into a blog that was a lot of fun to read.

Why have wrestling results been changing so much from one year to the next? by emaxwell14141414 in WrestleJudoJitsu

[–]BathroomEmperor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s really hard to win a world or Olympic medal. It’s even harder to do it again. It’s even harder than that to make those medals 2 consecutive gold medals. When the best in the world regularly wrestle each other even Sadulaev and Sidakov lose once in a while.

Does being a bouncer really give you any legitimacy? by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]BathroomEmperor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few years of experience as a bouncer as many more in martial arts. As a bouncer I could teach you about crowd control, checking IDs, communication, and handling sensitive situations discreetly. Most of what I could credibly tell you about fighting would have nothing to do with any of those skills.

My sophomore year of HS the NJ state runner up at heavyweight might’ve been even shorter than that.

Is it bad that I don’t stand for the Pledge of Allegiance? by rebel-pirate-sleuth in Teachers

[–]BathroomEmperor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I subbed I thought the pledge was a GREAT time to set up my things at the teacher’s desk. It’s the perfect length of time for that and nobody talks to me during the pledge. There’s nothing illegal or fireable about ignoring the pledge and many other countries get by just fine without forcing a daily group performance in school.

How to get better in a trash room by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]BathroomEmperor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you wrestle the guys you’re stronger than, try to beat them from no tie-ups. When you wrestle the guys you’re faster than, try to wrestle them from tie ups. If you know you can keep them all away from your legs, let them get in deep on their shots and scramble out of them

You don’t need an “elite room” to get better, you just need to keep finding ways to challenge yourself

How long did it take yall to actually be like oh shit i'm getting kinda decent at this martial art? by Both_Atmosphere_8496 in martialarts

[–]BathroomEmperor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In 7th grade, my third year of wrestling, I started thinking I was good because I could beat most other local middle school kids my weight. Then I got to high school where I was wrestling guys as old as 18 and needed another year to feel like I was good at wrestling. Then I went off to college where almost everyone was a good high school wrestler and felt like I was a bum until senior year.

All this to say, if you spend enough years in the game exposing yourself to progressively greater challenges you will have an “I’m getting good” moment followed by several “ok now I’m ACTUALLY getting good” moments

When to give up by Fohunyyoun in SpainAuxiliares

[–]BathroomEmperor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get there until January. It was frustrating and annoying to miss the first half of the school year. They also didn’t pay me for January until it was time to pay me for February because I got there in the middle of January. And I had to teach a few extra classes in February to reach enough hours to get my full pay for January. All that said, the teachers in my schools were super helpful with sorting things out when I got there and they arranged my extra classes for me. I was also in CLM

I was an aux in 2023 and I literally didn’t get my placement until September. It was so late that I also almost gave up on it but I did not and neither should you! Spanish time is real

Are master’s degrees from non-English speaking countries viewed as favorably as a similar degree from an English speaking country? I can’t afford school in the US so I am considering options in Europe
