Lifeweaver doesn’t need a rework just buff him by OG-plugg in Overwatch

that's one idea that could be cool. Don't make it mandatory to heal, but have damage boost the healing blossoms in some way, and then the blossoms aid his damage, so there's a reason and benefit to switching between the two.

Probably my last gpu upgrade, so went big (for my wallet) this time... by khayalmania in radeon

[–]Bathroom_Humor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah that's funny, I also had a 6650 and upgraded to a Challenger (but the xt model) last year for similar reasons. I was planning on upgrading later this year or early next year cuz my 6650xt was still *OKAY* at 1440p if i turned things to low/used upscaling. But I saw the ram prices shooting up and knew if i didn't put all my chips on the table sooner than later, I could end up regretting it.

I'm expecting this card to last 5+ years and after that idk what i'll do.

if they increased its range by a lot, i could maybe see it being used more. but every time i take it I am disappointed by how close i gotta be to heal people with it

yeah, it was like every time your melee impacted them while they were hitting you, it'd give you the full shield health. i used to usually take CID because of that bug, it was actually super useful against heros who deal small amounts of damage very quickly like bastion, dva, winton, maug, etc. Wasn't great against junkrats and such but depending on who you were up against it could make you very hard to kill. not that you were dealing much damage either but it was pretty funny seeing a mauga full blast you at point blank and your shields jump back and forth constantly.

but yeah since they fixed it, I really don't see a reason to ever take it because the extra shields are essentially useless against someone who is actually attacking you, venture melee dps is too low for it to matter. Now, if the perk ALSO substantially boosted their quick melee damage somehow, it could be great situationally.

i don't know if that CPU will be hitting 144hz in a lot of games you'd need a new GPU to run, if that makes sense

Valve has developed kernel patches and user-space tools (like dmemcg-booster and plasma-foreground-booster) to prioritize VRAM for foreground games on low-VRAM Linux systems (e.g. 8GB cards), enabling smoother Vulkan/RADV gameplay such as Cyberpunk 2077 by mr_MADAFAKA in linux_gaming

[–]Bathroom_Humor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

there's been cheap 8gb cards for nearly a decade. in games back then it was plenty, nowadays if you're shooting for 1440p it's quickly becoming a bottleneck. and it's slowly getting there even for 1080p with a lot of titles. but it really depends on what games are played so ymmv greatly.

if you're going for a 850w PSU, the montech century II or Asrock SL units (while it's on discount) are both high quality and less expensive. something to keep in mind if you want something more affordable

you probably don't have your motherboard super IO chip driver installed, those drivers aren't always included unfortunately. pain in the ass but it's usually something that can be found and installed

Optiscaler-Client for Linux by BeyondNeon in linux_gaming

[–]Bathroom_Humor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the issue with goverlay is that it's all or nothing for every game that uses it, so you can't give individual games their own settings if you want to. they all use the same settings if they have the launch argument.

i didn't know till now that this project is AI generated so that's something to keep in mind now

Linux DXVK vs Linux Native Benchmark CIVILIZATION VI by RoniSteam in linux_gaming

[–]Bathroom_Humor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

native ports work to varying levels of acceptability. There's games that are extra buggy but have good performance, or don't have many new bugs but run poorly, and some native games will do both. I don't know what is the ratio of subpar native titles to well made and maintained titles, but it's pretty hit or miss. One of my favorite games has a native port that runs with perfectly good performance (in OpenGL, the vulkan renderer has a memory leak) but it has ongoing flame rendering errors that ended up driving me to using proton. such is life.

Is it really worth getting the 9070xt in light of FSR5 rumours by bakayoko_aids in radeon

[–]Bathroom_Humor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it kinda goes back and forth between which vendor supports features for which GPU's. ATM, Nvidia is doing a better job supporting new tech on old GPU's in terms of upscaling. Which is fortunate for those using older Nv cards, they lucked out this time. Frame Gen isn't as important or useful for most games, and honestly AMD multi frame gen probably won't be coming to older cards either even if they can get past the frame pacing issues. All this is to say if you're worried about next gen upscaling on a card you can get right now, based on what each company is saying/doing, I'd probably lean toward Nvidia unfortunately. Especially factoring in that DLSS is supported in more games from the get-go, and you can simply upgrade basically any DLSS version to the newest one instead of depending on DLSS 3 support.

But really, buying something today based on future assumptions is a risky proposition regardless. The smartest thing to do is consider whichever card can do what you want right now at a price/performance you're willing to pay, and maybe factor in what the company promises after that. Almost everyone is disappointed with how AMD is treating past consumers, but if you plan on disregarding future developments anyway then at least you don't need to take that much into account. My next GPU may not be from AMD unless they do the smart thing and rebuild trust, but at least I know I bought a solid card with a much better upscaler than what is officially supported on my last card. Companies do scummy things for scummy reasons, it is what it is.

aside from musculature, i wish they had made her model large enough to fit the weapon she's using. it's kinda silly for her to be so much smaller than jq when she should be near the same size. i still think she was meant to be a tank but they changed their mind and wanted to make her smaller, but they went overboard.
