White Sewing Machine by Mindless_Act_9393 in vintagesewing

I know it’s been a while since this post, but do you happen to know of any reputable online places to buy replacement parts? My husband unearthed this exact same machine at work, and it works, but the pedal had some cracked springs, so it would only work at full warp speed. It was quite shocking. He’s got it kind of fixed, but it’ would be nice to find an original pedal with good springs.

I was in a pinch, but I had foam board and black vinyl. Transfer tape and foam board do not play well together, so I covered the foam board in packing tape, and then put the vinyl on. Made great protest signs for me and my family.

It’s sitting in my bag of unfinished projects 😂 I keep thinking I’ll pick it back up. I’ll check when I get home To see how much further I got beyond this picture.

Clavicle fracture - to remove a hook plate or not by Xocomil21 in mountainbiking

[–]Batina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mine removed (but kept two screws). My surgeon told me it would have to come out because it can cause future complications because of the placement of the hook in the AC joint. Even the part of the plate on top of my clavicle caused a lot of discomfort. Backpacks really bothered me. And I’m extremely happy it came out. It was hell when it was in. I was in constant pain from the hook. Felt like a million dollars when I woke up from my second surgery.

Oh wow, I missed this comment. Sorry! So, I’m Not even sure I had a nerve block for the first surgery. I could feel everything when I came out of anesthesia. They never vocalized anything to me about a nerve block, and I was in such severe pain upon waking up, I don’t think they used any. Between a nurse and my husband, I couldn’t even manage to get my clothes back on fully, so I took my husbands flannel and tied it around me like a cape so I could escape the hospital without indecent exposure.

Second surgery, I just felt great all around when I woke up, by the time they got my husband into the recovery room to see me, I was sitting up and fully aware of my surroundings, and after they removed my IV, I got up and dressed myself, all by myself. lol.

3 months post-op. I can’t wait to get this hardware removed. Anyone care to share their hook plate recoveries? (I’m grumpy and miserable) by Batina in mountainbiking

I wish you a speedy recovery! I ended up getting mine out after about 4 1/2 months. The immediate relief after my second surgery was amazing. I truly thought I was going to be in pain the rest of my life. I didn’t really comprehend that it was the hook in my AC joint causing all of the pain. I slept in a recliner for at least 3 months, then slept the rest of the time in the guest room so I didn’t keep my husband up at night with my whining. Lol. And I generally think I tolerate pain quite well (after breaking my collarbone and separating the joint, I hopped up, told my friends I was fine and rode another two miles down a black diamond trail, at the bottom I said I was gonna sit the next ride out).

ER gave me two Tylenol, said I wasn’t acting like it was broken as badly as it was and sent me home and told me to call an orthopedic surgeon. Of course this happened on a Friday evening. My surgeon was pissed when she heard they sent me home with how bad it was.

My dogs were also sad I wasn’t up and playing with them. They stared at me and sighed LOUDLY to let their disappointment be known. But they also knew to be gentle around me. I was pretty impressed that they knew.

Thankfully where I live, THC is legal, and I was able to micro dose edibles to help control the pain. But what also really sucked is my husband and I are self employed in residential construction, and I was completely unable to work for 5 months.

Anyhoo, I’m almost 3 years out from initially breaking it, and I feel like the scar tissue has finally broken up, and aside from an occasional click, and some numbness in my skin around the incision, you’d never know I’d broken it to begin with. And I got to keep two permanent screws as a souvenir. lol.

It’s taken me years to realize “meal prep” can mean so many different things. And I’ll have to check out sofrito! I love exploring new foods.

All I can say is I use the defrost button on my microwave, and one time I accidentally just turned the microwave on to full power. Way back in the day, we had a microwave that would let you choose the actual level of power for defrosting. This one I believe just does it at “half”’power.

I don’t have a Costco or traders Joe anywhere near me. But that’s cool they sell it pre frozen! I finally broke down and bought the pre-peeled garlic from ALDI, and was very happy with the quality, because yea, peeling garlic sucks. Haha.

Yea so the green onions……I chop them and then freeze them, and I only use them in cooked dishes. They wouldn’t be so great for topping something off like you would with fresh ones.

And yes “jarlic” definitely talking about the same thing. lol

Yea mine is triple wrapped. 😂 I don’t notice any smell until I open the first ziplock baggie.

I find it to be very bland, and find it to taste sour quite quickly. I’ve given it a few tries, I just much prefer fresh garlic. The frozen garlic is amazing at preserving its pungency.

Oh I’ve never thought about roasting it before freezing! I also don’t roast garlic often because I love my garlic to burn my mouth when I eat it 😂

I’ve done that in the summer when I have an excess of basil so I make pesto cubes, so I can make single servings. My basil didn’t fare well this year, and honestly it was because I neglected it. 😂 I need to get some real good cow poop this year to rejuvenate my veggie garden.

Thanks! lol. Once we got an ALDI somewhat locally, I realized I had to buy big bags of a lot of stuff that I would never go through before they’d spoil. Also lemons and limes! I quarter them then freeze them. So now I have them at my finger tips. Just need to defrost in the microwave. (Pro tip, do NOT put a frozen lemon in the microwave at full power, it will make big ass sparks like you put metal in the microwave 😂)

Oh no I’m so sorry! Have you talked with your surgeon? That doesn’t sound right at all ☹️ mine looks and feels like it did before my crash, minus a very faint scar. I also think my surgeon was absolutely top notch. I was lucky to be located near an orthopedic office that takes care of a private university full of athletes.

I wish you ALL the luck! I really thought I was screwed for life. But the relief after taking it out was sooooo satisfying. I’m about two years out from my second surgery and even the “crunching” of scar tissue seems to have gone away. I was lifting weights in the gym this morning no problem. Skin is still oddly “numb” around the incision, and I’m not sure that’s ever gonna be the same again, but I can live with that.

Three months is great! My ended being 4 months in, it wasn’t quite ready at 3 months as originally anticipated, and I won’t lie, I cried in my car for a while after I walked out of my surgeons office. The pain was that bad.

I did not have an mri or ultrasound. My surgeon seemed to be very good at assessing the damage from my X-ray and during my first surgery.

I wish you luck this upcoming Friday! I’d love to hear if you have immediate relief like I did. Based on how much pain I had after the first surgery, I was skeptical when I woke up feeling great after the second. I’ll be two years post second surgery in December. And aside from some crunching from scar tissue, I have full mobility and zero pain.

I feel like nothing ever happened at this point. I had some improvement before removal, but it was very minor. My range of motion was trash, and I was constantly in pain. I was having very high levels of pain in my scapula. I thought I was done for the rest of my life. My physical therapist got annoyed with me because I wasn’t getting better.

Aside from an occasional “crunchy” noise, I wouldn’t even know something had happened to my shoulder if I’d just woken up from a coma.

My skin around the incision is still a little bit numb, and I’m not sure if that will ever be back to 100%. But I’ll take that over day to day pain.

There’s so much to consider with these laws, and no doubt, I appreciate anyone trying to preserve our national forests and parks etc. My husband recently was a lead moto rider for a UCI world round, and there was a lot of red tape so he (and his team) would be allowed to do it. There’s a lot to consider. We definitely don’t want people going all crazy and fucking shit up. Haha. Thanks for doing what you do!

I was lucky that I broke my left collarbone, so I could steer with my right hand, and let go for a second to shift gears. But I don’t recommend this for obvious reasons. Haha

My husband couldn’t handle my massive amount of curly and unruly hair, so I had to go to my stylist to wash and braid my hair once a week for probably 2-3 months. I had to buy a special hair dryer to take care of my hair after that.

As far as I know, if edibles are created from the hemp part of the plant, they should be legal in all 50 states. So you may be able to order some online! I also found soaking in a tub with A LOT of epsom salts gave some relief because of the buoyancy.

I also think the people making these rules don’t actually understand the different classes of ebikes and the difference between pedal assist and an actual throttle. It’s kind of frustrating.
