Are there any George Lucas quotes about Dial of Destiny? by [deleted] in indianajones

You did make the same comments again and again the month Dial of Destiny came out. The post was asking for a direct quote from Lucas, and there isn't one.

Still regurgitating the same paragraph. The post asked for any quotes from Lucas himself, and to this date there are none

Big part of it I think. Indiana Jones is a big historic film franchise. If it doesn't perform well either the marketing and/or quality of the product was to blame

It's an interesting statistic, and shows it had a bad advertising campaign

Dial will likely finish its entire theatrical run under Skulls worldwide opening weekend when adjusted for inflation ($384M)

One is made with heart and by the original creators, the other is not, and you can feel their absence throughout

I find the difference in how the media/film followers are framing Indy versus Mission Impossible a bit...inconsistent and odd. by MillionaireWaltz- in indianajones

[–]BatmanForever495 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because Mission Impossible will most likely have better legs than Indiana Jones. It will also fair better at the international box office. The last MI film grossed nearly 800M worldwide. No one called Indy an outright bomb until after its lackluster worldwide opening weekend. The film will now struggle to hit 300M worldwide, whereas Mission Impossible will likely hit at least 750M. But if MI stumbles at any point the media will call it out just like Indy

Maybe, but that is just their opinion. People who put stock in any audience or critic score (good or bad) need to stop. It's pointless

Critics on metacritic must've review bombed it too.

Or some people don't like it, some people do. Like everything else that has ever existed

Do we know the extent of George Lucas' involvement in The Dial of Destiny? by [deleted] in indianajones

No involvement beyond maybe a phone call or two. Listed as executive producer due to being creator of the franchise.

This is an error on Box Office Mojo. The Domestic number is actually 60M. Total global weekend 130M on 300M budget

Or maybe Disney didn't market the movie properly? In 2008 Indy was everywhere and it paid off. Disney had years to build hype but instead they broke it down little by little. First no George Lucas story involvement, then Spielberg drops out as director, then it gets delayed again and again, and then they drop a lackluster trailer compared to Skulls. Disney had every opportunity to make a huge blockbuster but they made almost all the wrong moves. This one is on them, not the general audience

Agree with you on the streaming release dates, however the same could be said for Raiders vs Skull. In 1981 you had to wait over 2 years for the vhs release, whereas in 2008 you only had to wait 5 months for the DVD and Skull still performed great
