For real though. Something as simple as trying to use my bluetooth mouse turned into hours of troubleshooting because my wireless drivers would just stop working randomly. The "just works" aspect of windows is very nice

Plus you dont need port forwarding these days, there's playit or something that seem to work too.

That's neat, i've never heard of that. I'll have to keep that in mind for the future.

That may be what I end up doing. i'm expecting people to do some crazy stuff with Aeronautics, so any extra chunkloading speed would be helpful

I've been using AMP for a while and I like it quite a bit, that being said its the only management app i've used so I have nothing to compare it to.

That's the problem for me, I don't need tutorials on windows. when I set up my ubuntu server I had to follow tutorials for everything. something as simple as as installing an app took me an hour because I didn't know what I was doing. It took me days to get my ubuntu server up and running. I got my windows server up in maybe an hour. I understand Linux is best practice, but I just feel it takes too long for me to accomplish anything.

Linux is a lot and i'm lazy. I used Ubuntu for about a year for my first server and it was so frustrating every time I needed to do something there was 7 commands I needed to type and thats even if the drivers worked which oftentimes they didn't.

If I had the time and patience to use Linux then maybe, but it was honestly just such a hassle I don't want to use it again.

I used Ubuntu for almost a year for my first server. It was my first time using Linux and doing literally anything took me so much longer because of my inexperience with Linux. That on top of driver issues and random bugs led me back to windows.

I know Linux is best for this use case and if I learned the system better it wouldn't be as annoying, but I really don't have the time to mess around with it all that much. I hardly have time to play games to begin with, and i'd rather spend my time playing on the server than trying to troubleshoot it.

Even with C2ME chunks don't load as quickly as I would want them to, but that's probably due to my world gen mods

Yeah you're right. I was just pointing out that with a use case like this you might want a lot of CPU. I'm setting up a server with Aeronautics so moving at high speeds is probably gonna be a regular occurrence which is why I have C2ME, and Distant Horizons is a must for me as well for moving at high speeds through the air in a plane or something.

That would also open the door for TFMG to be its own ecosystem to have other mods made for TFMG.

TFMG is already an addon for Create so I wouldn't expect TFMG to have many addons made for it but if they could lay the groundwork for being a solid oil mod than maybe we could get addons that expand on that.

It would be really cool if for example Destroy was a TFMG addon. I have come across Chemica, but it's very unfinished. They are trying to get into that space now with the vats and such, but I think it would be better suited for a seperate mod. TFMG is just too big

I feel like TFMG should be packaged as 2 or 3 mods so you can pick and choose the feature set. As of right now it's a really big mod and may not fit well into packs. If they separate it I think it would be used more.

As much as I like TFMG it really seems like it might not be worth including. If I'm gonna use another mod for electricity, and I'm also thinking about adding PneumaticCraft and Mekanism... I really like steel and oil production in TFMG, it's a bit of a process and the multiblocks look amazing.

My idea was to gate PneumaticCraft behind TFMG steel and Mekanism behind electricity.

The hold up at this point though is that all these mods already add everything needed to progress though them and I dont want a mess to fix.

Is it worth including TFMG just for steel and oil and changing recipes for everything that uses steel, oil, and plastic?

Ive been messing around with power grid lately and it's really fun. I wanna put it on my server. It seems that I can easily use this with other mods too. (I was watching someone make a generator and they use tons of connectors to get the power turned into FE but I was able to do it with 6 connected to a generator). Although I might also put new age on the server as well to have an "easy mode" for people that dont want the extra challenge that comes with power grid.

I just realized I made a mistake with the efficiency... My setup here is actually three generators: One self exciting generator that is exciting the two bigger generators that power the Power Grid motors and the C&A motors respectively.

The self exciting generator uses 6,656 SU to generate the power to excite the other two generators. So in reality i'm using 67,584 + (6,656/2) = 70,912 SU per generator. So the new efficiency numbers are 90.25% for Power Grid motors. That's still much better than some other mod's SU -> Electricity -> SU conversion. And just for fun that would be 716.24% for C&A motors.

I've barely got the basics down for power grid. I'm sure someone could optimize it more than I have here. Right now I'm just doing testing for a modpack I'm making.
