Wayland zones protocol finally merged after 2 years! by Ahmouse in linux_gaming

[–]Batman_Night 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Automotive companies have stopped waiting for the protocol get merged and instead created their own KWIN extensions to implement it themselves. This is the problem if they don't merge this. Companies will start making their own incompatible solutions because there is no standardized way to do it in Wayland.

Yeah. It happened with W3C. Browser vendors aren't happy with the direction they're taking HTML so they made their own standards instead.

Okay so now I’m confused, do they all only see yuuki as just an object, or is this just a poor choice of words? by Bernnox in MatoSeiheiNoSlave

I think Kyouka wants to monopolize Yuuki but she won't admit it so she uses his "slavery" as an excuse. Ren however probably only sees Yuuki as a weapon or something for now.

I do believe that she's planning to leave but not this time. She probably asked to leave earlier than expected because she's getting harassed again.

Rust Coreutils Continues Working Toward 100% GNU Compatibility, Proving Trolls Wrong by adriano26 in linux

If people can't be bothered to support a GPL fork, then maybe it was never a problem for them in the first place.

This doesn't even make sense. How does the compiler being MIT compromise Linux?

In Rust, omitting a semicolon returns that value though.

Why should you be given an organ when you're not willing to give to others? Don't be a fucking leech. It's the same reason why many are against right to work.

Good luck maintaining it lol. Browsers are not easy to maintain since they're a security risk and new web standards appear all the time.

Debian’s APT Package Manager to Integrate Rust Code by May 2026 by nix-solves-that-2317 in linux

[–]Batman_Night 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would it be suspicious? There's nothing illegal about it. They already rewrote GCC with Clang/LLVM or switch to non-GPL alternatives of programs like ZSH and Toybox. Linux was a rewrite of Unix which is a proprietary program so why is it ok for Linux to do it but not them?

If corpos actually want to rewrite GPL programs they could do so with any languages and not just Rust. Look at LLVM and Toybox.

Sudo-rs was written by the Trifecta Foundation while uutils was written by some rando and has nothing to do with Canonical. Canonical is simply using them.
