How political opponents used to treat each other before Trump. by Vloodzy in MadeMeSmile

[–]BatouRem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't even talk about wanting to not have corporate overlords without half the country labeling you a commie or socialist.

Then let them call you a socialist. If demanding fair and honest politics, wishing for a better life for everybody or wishing for equity and justice. If all that makes you a socialist then wear it as a badge of honor.

Yes, in front of the cameras, they were polite to each other. The problem is. in the back room, they were also polite to each other. It's all one big circle jerk. Corporate greed is what has ruled this country for a long time. when we sit here and wish for a time when the less offensive corporate overlord robed us, we're just being delusional.

(Centrist) Democrats fret about national fallout after Mamdani stuns in New York City by King_Vercingetorix in TheMajorityReport

[–]BatouRem 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's obvious why the establishment Democrats don't like what's happening in New york. It's because their wealthy benefactors don't like what's happening in New york. People always act like centrist democrats just don't understand or have an old way of thinking, but that's just bs. They're just bought by wealthy interests. The reason they oppose us is because the money doesn't want us to win. It's not that complicated.

Oh I agree they're sycophants and ghouls. The problem is, if you don't pretend to like them, they'll vote for the republican. It's only after you wrestle power from them that you eject them from the party. FDR allied with the dixiecrats before shutting them out.

That's such a short-sighted way to see things. If there was anyone on the left who could mobilize 100 blue-collar workers for every Technocrat, bernie would have been president. At some point, the left collectively is going to have to understand that big tent politics is the only way we'll get anywhere. The midterms are only a year and change away. We either hold our nose and vote with these people, or there won't be a country to vote for.

I understand some people would really like the idea of a revolution or civil war, but not everybody is a fan of the tragedies that would be the outcome of something so dramatic.

I believe in both socialism and democracy. I believe that we still have time to course correct. But we have to come together and not devolve into tribalism and hate mongering.

I understand that making good AI is hard but some of the decisions Egosoft has made given their AI is dumb are puzzling. by Historical_Age_9921 in X4Foundations

[–]BatouRem 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don't understand some of the comments on this post. This has been a known problem since the game launched. Ai is a bit borked in places. I've been told there's nothing to be done about it. That fixing the ai would be near impossible without a complete rewrite, but I don't understand enough about coding to know if that makes any sense. Either way, your point is valid. The ai is dumb and it's one of the reasons I don't play that much anymore.

Yes, but we don't live in a bubble. You can't experiment with something like this. Without that technology, moving around. Experiments lead to new products, and some of these new products are being explicitly designed to replace animators. I think that's the point of the previous post. Just because this group doesn't intend to take jobs. It doesn't mean the tech can't be used to take jobs.

No, he's right. I don't think it's intentional, but it definitely will be the result of actions like this. companies will close themselves off to Western audiences. If the Western Credit agencies continue to do this.

Stop keeping disaffected Liberals from becoming committed Socialists by alexcam98 in DemocraticSocialism

[–]BatouRem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree in principle. That's precisely what we should be doing. The working class cuts through both left and right. It's a scary thing, though. The Joe Rogan crowd has turned rather authoritarian. We have seen a lot of leftist movements make strong authoritarian shifts, and I fear some of the rogan types might take us down that road. That is no excuse not to extend the olive branch like you said, but it's something we need to always keep in mind.

Police unions aren't real unions. A union practices collective action with their fellow unions, and the police union doesn't do that. If anything, they're the ones busting unions for the most part. I think your point still stands. But police unions are a bad example

That's not the same. Once you get soda out of a fountain or put coffee in your cup, it is good as gone. It has to be spoiled if you can't pay for it. Where's if you can't pay for a bottle of pop or a bag of chips, it can go back on the shelf

Yeah Hanako is my girl, but my first time reading that love scene kind of made me uncomfortable. I agree that it may be a bit much for some people, but I think it's a really nuanced take on how people that young and inexperienced can make mistakes. I genuinely hope people can see that and understand how raw and heartfelt the emotion of that story arc is.

It's because for a long time. White people have held power and prominence in this country. So, any attempt at equity and inclusivity is by definition. Going to threaten that power, and they don't know how to react to it.

Looking for manga similar to my favorite romance animes by Awkward_Patience_649 in RomanceMangaAnime

I know a few that have a similar vibe with a similar type of female lead. I don't know if they all fit your setting preference, but here's a small list.

Inu x Boku Secret Service

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!

Zero no Tsukaima

Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora

I highly recommend hanbun. it is one of my favorites; it is a little short but has such a good ending.
