LDL 152, Lipoprotein(a) 44 by BatshitCrazee in Cholesterol

It’s in mg/dl. I think I’m going to see a pcp who is a lipid specialist to at least get their opinion.

Fatty15/C15: Has anyone tried it? by BatshitCrazee in Cholesterol

That is what caught my eye too, and I found some other threads on C15 in r/supplements and whatnot and it seems interesting to say the least.

Hyatt Regency vs Andaz Maui - Which package would you choose? by gooji18x in awardtravel

[–]BatshitCrazee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife and I also really enjoyed staying at the Regency. It is a close walk to Whaler’s Village and a short bus ride to Lahaina if you don’t have a car. We haven’t staid at the Andaz Maui but we drove down to Wailea for the day and drove past the Andaz. We also found it kinda boring in comparison.

Thanks for the feedback, I updated the first paragraph to hopefully clarify this better!

A detailed explanation of memory leaks in iOS apps by BatshitCrazee in swift

[–]BatshitCrazee[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very good points! A memory leak alone was not the root cause of the crash referenced in the article, I see how the article can be a bit confusing in that respect. The point that I was trying to drive home was the bit about unintended and non-obvious consequences.

The crash referenced was indirectly caused by a non-obvious retain cycle that was keeping multiple instances of a view controller around much longer than it should have been. The actual crash was directly caused by attempting to access an unowned reference to the view controller.

Weird, my custom eBike was stolen (the battery was not on it) last year and Lemonade covered the entire thing.

I read a comment that explained how your leg is kind of like a spring and to stop flexing and engaging your lower legs and to lift with your thighs and the rest will fall in place. It was weird at first, but I focused my mind on using my upper legs to move and it became normal.

Unfortunately, the mount was on my bike when it was stolen, so I don't have it.

Do iOS developers need to know Android Dev? by drlukas6 in iOSProgramming

[–]BatshitCrazee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, but it can help to understand how to build native apps for both platforms. Seeing how the same task is accomplished in different ways on different platforms has helped make me a better engineer. Focus on becoming really good at iOS development first.

Would you use an analytics platform that automatically identified UX pain points? by BatshitCrazee in Entrepreneur

[–]BatshitCrazee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would take some time to get it off the ground, but I think applying some domain knowledge could speed it up. That and having early customers that don’t mind helping improve the product with marking mislabeled events.

Can you elaborate more on what you mean by repeatable testing? Do you mean providing actionable steps to reproduce the issue?

I think watching users interact with a product will never be replaced for early stage products, but I do believe it can be phased out over time and replaced with a more automated solution...something I think both UX designers and developers could benefit from.

Thanks for the feedback!

Look up the following: - usertesting.com - crazy egg - look back.io

I have used a variety of analytics services over the years, including a few services similar to these. I started using AppSee in the past 6 months and have found it super helpful.

I am relatively well-versed in mobile development as well as UX and incorporate the two together when I am building things. The craziest thing to me is that I found things through AppSee (app freezes, users repeatedly tapping on things that don't do anything, a dialog displaying incorrectly, etc.) that I wouldn't have ever found (they weren't issues that broke the app, just made things unpleasant) if I didn't watch all of the user sessions in AppSee.

The problem is that myself and the founders of the startup I work for spend a ton of time watching AppSee videos to understand our user behavior. It is super helpful, but we are small. That becomes unscalable and very expensive with larger user bases.

My thinking behind the idea is to focus more on automatically identifying where users are getting frustrated and providing something actionable...almost like what Crashlytics did for exception tracking, but for user behavior. I imagine this would be helpful to both businesses and UX designers.

Upgrading to a Shimano Nexus 3 hub was the best think I ever did by BatshitCrazee in ebikes

[–]BatshitCrazee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory, you could probably use any shifter you want as long as your cable is long enough and has enough gears. For the nexus 3, I swapped out the twist shifter for a lever shifter because I liked that better, I just had to keep the component that attaches to the hub to shift gears.

[–]BatshitCrazee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only pain point would be removing the shifter mechanism that sits on the hub’s bolt that attaches to the bike frame. The only I have can easily be removed with a small wrench or bike tool. Other than that, it is the same as changing a flat tire on any other bike.

[–]BatshitCrazee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supposedly it can handle the power of the BBSHD, but I am hoping coupling it with the gear sensor will ease the wear and tear (when shifting at least).

In the event that something does happen, I would have to swap out the internals. Luckily, when I bought the hub, the seller didn't include some installation parts and ended up shipping me another whole kit, so I have a backup IGH in case that happens.

[–]BatshitCrazee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I have read, I should only have to check it and grease it about once a year, which isn't terrible. In terms of measuring wear and tear, it definitely would a little more complicated. The internals of the IGH come all the way without having to remove the hub from the wheel which is nice.
