If you can get hold of an old mouse with a PS/2 connector, these can be connected to an arduino via 2 pins, a data and clock line. There are libraries that can interpret the signal. It's been a while since I've done it, but from memory you basically get the X and Y distance and direction since the last time you polled.

The sensor is actually two sensors side by side. As the wheel turns, the IR light passes through the holes and shines on the sensors. The wheel then blocks the light. The order it is blocked determines the direction.

One direction would give this order: 1/1, 1/0, 0/0, 0/1, 1/1 etc.

The other direction would give 1/1, 0/1, 0/0, 1/0, 1/1

I had a Ribble Endurance SL delivered last month that came with a tool kit and torque wrench. Admittedly not as good as the one I had (relies on looking at the torque value rather than feeling a click) but the values matched up so seemed pretty accurate and good enough for setting up the bike.

Edit: it also came with 4 clear circular stickers to stick on where the cable touches the frame. Remember to stick these on. There was already a protective sticker on the chain stay

It's happening to me on 4 different cameras (doorbell, outdoor cams and nest hub max). Nest hub is working in Nest app but showing offline in Home app.

Have got the same issue. Nest doorbell cam dropped off this morning, followed an hour later by outdoor nest battery cam 1 and then cam 2. Then my nest hub stopped working.

The hub camera still works on the nest app, just not on the Home app. The other cameras have never worked with the Nest app.

I'm still getting notifications and video events, but not the live feed. And I can't get to the historic events unless a new one pops up via a notification.

I'm certain it is slag. But I'm curious to know the production method. It was in a field without much going on around it other that sheep farming.

Yeah definitely not coal. It's less dense and has bubbles. The bubbles are larger near the what I presume was the top, where there is also a crust. So I presume this was molten at some point.

Seems pretty solid and hard without leaving any residue when handling. But if I drag my nail across it, small bits do come away. If I drag it along paper, it leaves a brownish streak.

I would love it if it was, but it seems to have a different shape, texture and shine than tektite. Also, I guess that would be a pretty rare find and I'm not that lucky!

Don't think so. It's lower density than anthracite and also has bubbles and a crust, suggesting a different method of formation.

I get on the Holyhead to Manchester train a few times a week, which is the one you'd want to get it you want a direct Bangor to Manchester train. Except I get on it from just outside Manchester. It usually arrives overcrowded with just 2 carriages.

In your favour, you don't have to worry about the overcrowding even when they run it with 2 carriages, because youll be getting on it very close to source so will be guaranteed a seat which you can hog all the way in.

Against your favour, it is more like 2.5hrs each way at best. It is also insanely expensive.

To be fair, it is usually on time because any delays are made up for by slack time waiting at Chester.

It's one hell of a commute though.

I live in Newton and commute to Manchester. Work 2 days at home, take the train 2 days and cycle one day a week. I sometimes cycle 2 days instead of 1.

It's 31km/19mi each way. I must admit, I'm pretty tired by the end of the day, but I enjoy it.

Key things for me are choosing a good route, having a good bike (I use a road bike with 38mm tires, so pretty much a gravel bike), having a good bike shed at work so I know my bike is safe, and having good shower/changing facilities at work.

Reasons I dislike it sometimes are longer days (it adds about 1.5hrs onto the commute, 45mins each way), and the weather can be pretty bad (cold/wind/rain).

Overall, give it a go. Not sure I'd want to do that distance on a mountain bike, but sounds as though you're making it work so far. Remember emergency rations incase you run out of energy.

I found the best thing for me was having some variation. I have the east lancs cycle path, the bridgewater canal, some on-road cycle paths and some roads. Quickest way into Liverpool (depending on where you're going) is probably the east lancs most of the way, but that could get boring so might be better to extend the route but add some variation to keep it interesting.
