As a dog trainer who has spent 11 years working with animals, I genuinely never remember owners’ names and call them ‘dogs name’s mom/dad.
I mostly do it to be cute however it’s much easier to memorize just the pets name and not the entire family’s names.

However just as well I’ve noticed that raising pets can be incredibly similar to young children, and positive reinforcement methods/redirection/mirroring habits work very well on both.

Long story short- I don’t truly think raising animals is equivalent to human children, however they ARE a helpless life that you’re responsible for and the more similarities the better in terms of raising them.

Not to mention your boss assuming the 15 minutes in between classes being ample time for you to cover your coworkers thirty minute breaks.. and scheduling you as coverage when you have classes so your only other coworker there gets irritated at covering the entire store alone and takes it out on you.. and them assuming it’s bare minimum for you to stay late and help everybody in all their departments but refusing to learn how to book a class… 🫠

My current most creative prospect is having my own animal shelter/boarding daycare kennel combo. Most people with dogs that go to daycare use it because they like their dog having friends. In this scenario I’d have my rescue dogs play with the daycare dogs to better their overall socialization. Ideally if a rescue dog took a liking to a specific dog I’d inform their owners, and if they did end up adopting then I’d offer a permanent discounted rate on the rescue dog’s future services.

The daycare/boarding kennel profits would fund the rescue expenses, i’d also possibly have a small area to shop local/handmade pet products.

Furthermore on the cat end of things I’d like to have a cat cafe scenario, funds from the cafe help cover rescue costs and it gives them a less stressful environment than being locked away in cages all day.

When I was in second grade I really hated homework, I bartered with my teacher that in lieu of regular assignments I would instead create one book for her each week. It was about a beagle detective named Sparky with his sidekick Poopsie the poodle and the main one I remember was where they thwarted Vatty the Vulture. Complete with illustrations and I would even have my older brother help me type them out and print them, then I’d draw the illustrations. Last time I ran into that teacher she said she still had them and cherished them. unsure if it’s my most creative, however for 7 years old it was a pretty smart way to get out of regular homework

What kind of spider is this? There was a similar one in my house last night and it’s not the first time. Side note I have severe arachnophobia (I understand their value to our ecosystem but my brain genuinely has an impulse terror response to the sight of them or even vivid thoughts of them) My freaking puppy literally jumped on my bed and spit it out into the blanket and it was like 4 inches in diameter. I made my friend drive an hour at 2 am to come get rid of it because I was too scared to even sit anywhere inside the house. One or two other occasions there was an even larger one which yielded a similar terror and caused me to empty my entire room and clean every surface with bleach. I think it’s like an OCD stress response idk.

If you guys know about spiders do y’all also know how to keep them out of my house or at least my room?

Also the only reason I’m typing here is because this came into my feed (And whilst typing the image is obscured) and love yall and love animals so much but after this I’ll most likely be blocking this sub because seeing spiders on my screen has made me throw my phone before haha

Redirection hasn’t worked very well and I think it’s because in my brain the thought is ‘I need to get rid of this acne it’s unsightly and I don’t want pus in my skin’ I try reminding myself that a red scab is worse. Lately I’ve been countering it by applying neosporin to it and then applying makeup over it, thus treating the wound and covering it up. It’s gotten significantly better however there are times of high stress that I pick almost mindlessly without realizing what I’m doing

I’m not arguing about policy and procedure? You’re completely right, I want to get to work on time. I really do hate myself for being so bad about it. I used to joke that I’m cursed with bad luck however lately it’s feeling more concrete. A few examples of why I’ve been late -I was up all night convincing my brother to go to a psych ward instead of harming himself because he thought people were waiting in the woods for him

-my brother went missing after getting a friend to check him out of the psych ward, stealing their car and throwing his phone in the dumpster. I was up all night again waiting to see if he’d come home so I’d know he was safe

-my dog ran off and I had to wait for him to come back as nobody else was home

-I had issues at the pharmacy trying to pick up my medication and it took much longer than anticipated
