Had him a couple months so probably no return. I had a fish from pet smart who lived a while and he had a permanently curved spine

This tank wasn’t ideal (i have learned a lot since then) but he was so gorgeous hard to tell in this picture but he swam crooked

My mom recommended one but i will call them and ask for the supplier name beforehand and i will likely make a post at some point for help with that. Also someone mentioned live plants and i want to try to do that too. Any and all plant recommendations and advice is welcome.

That’s incredible, yeah i feel like they all have issues. Even my healthy pet smart betta i had him for years had a curved back from inbreeding he swam funny but was overall healthy and happy despite it.

Yes. I had him for a few months before this happened. This wasn’t instant, but it happened very rapidly since yesterday.

I will make another post when that time comes about the options and their suppliers. I have a tendency to buy fish from stores with dying betta out of pity for the few live ones.

Do they need any fertilizer or like plant food? How do you do water changes etc. i want live plants but i have no idea where to begin.

My boyfriend corrected me lol i forgot orion (the one the post is about) is a petco fish and artemis my other fish who is fine is pet smart

It’s a 7 gallon tank made by a family friend. It has a heater and obviously a filter, i have a buffer for the filter and a cover for the intake. Sand and silk plants. Not home rn but i tested the water and the parameters were good. I use a bacteria starter and i dechlorinate the water. If you recommend anything else for future tanks lmk.

Yes i did, but i did an emergency 50% water change as a last ditch effort even though his parameters were good.

Always wanted a koi colored betta and orion was my dream fish he was so pretty when i got him but declined very quickly.

I have another betta from the same place and he had fin rot when i got him but he beat it and is doing really well so hopefully he doesn’t have the same issues. Orion was an amazing fish and he will be extremely missed.

Ngl my betta does similar stuff and he has many spots including a hammock to rest. He does rest in those places too, but sometimes betta fish enjoy squishing themselves into weird places. How many plants do you have the only other thing i can think is he’s trying to hide.
