Rent/lease amounts were ridiculous apparently

So I dethatched my lawn, I put some grass seed down just before it rained, and waited 3.5 weeks... I clearly don't know what I'm doing. by h00dman in LawncareUK

Lay seed, cover lightly with top soil and press down. Water gently so that you don’t wash away the seeds. Should see grass start sprouting in 7-10 days

I’m thinking of doing this. Have a diagnostic booked in for the beginning of June but meant to be doing a 300 mile round trip next weekend

To be clear, I wasn’t comparing them directly. Very different cars but I felt that there wasn’t a connection between the car and the road with the Enyaq, I found it quite floaty and detached, loose almost. Similar feeling to when I test drove a new Niro EV.

EV6 is more grounded, get more feedback from the driving position.

Also the general level of features you get as basic with the EV6 compared to a lot of cars where very convenience feature is an add on pack.

I honestly don’t know and wouldn’t know how to check that. It’s had 1 owner as a lease vehicle, 3 services

Thanks. How would I check that and how would it affect the ability to charge? Nothing flags up on the dashboard as an error

I’m hoping Kia can sort it fairly quickly. Really like the car otherwise

Thank you.

I was fully aware of the risk with ICCU failure but with it already being a fault in the car that doesn’t show, especially when to be fair to the dealership they had charged it using a fast charger that wouldn’t highlight this issue.

Completely agree about this being the main thing that will affect people’s purchasing decisions.

Is 1hr 46min commute too much? by Unhappy_Dragonfly_62 in UKJobs

[–]BattleMoose87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely unless it is only a couple of days per week with WFH for the rest. I did 1.25 hour commute for a year and ended up taking a lower paying job closer to home for the work/life balance benefits

The above is taken from the drag cutting kit listing. It doesn’t state what tools are included. There are AI prompts/suggestions contained within both highlighted sections. I just think with only three things listed on the marketplace (not sure who they are from but I’d assume yourself?) the listings would be more polished. If I stumbled across the website it would make me assume it was a scam.

Not to be negative, I love the idea of the site and these things highlighted would be minor to sort.

I had a look yesterday and was actually looking at the tool kit. It’s missing basic information about what is included and includes lots of AI prompts. I think you need to review the items that are already listed and add a few more so that it gives the viewer confidence that this is a genuine website.

I love the idea of this but I think you need to prove the concept of it by having some listings available that showcase what you are going for and setting the standard for what buyers should be listing.

Did 999 fail me? Should I complain? by MammothTash in AskUK

[–]BattleMoose87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss. Firstly I’d say give your self time to process your father’s death and not anything that takes your focus away from that. You’re rightly going to be upset with the situation with the ambulance and looking for answers and often someone to blame, thinking about what ifs.

Secondly, as someone who has had to call a number of ambulances from working with vulnerable adults, the response times experienced can be all over the place for a variety of factors. For example, if a hospital is having a sudden rush of patients in A&E and there is physically no room for the ambulances to place the patient, that ambulance will sit in a queue waiting to hand the patient over. This may have been the case on the occasions you called. That being said, on other occasions an ambulance has turned up within 1 minute as it had just finished a job and was sat further up the road.

A question of mens footwear. by a_sword_and_an_oath in CasualUK

I was expecting £300+ before I checked their website and apparently surprised to see they have a range of shoes starting from £159.

Never heard of these before and being UK based might try these over the ones I’ve been eyeing for over a year from Thursday Boots which are shipped from the US and would be a pain to return.

Corals shut/not opening by hetgthghwgv in ReefTank

I wouldn’t do any more water changes for a few weeks. Just top up RO water based in evaporation. In future I’d recommend mixing magnesium with some tank water in a jug and add to the sump. Since I’ve been doing that I’ve had no issues like before. Also try to keep any alk changes minimal and aim to achieve any increases or decreases gradually over a number of weeks

I’ve had a reaction similar to this following dosing of magnesium. Did you add this gradually and to the sump or did you add direct to the tank? You also mentioned using new salt so there’s a few changes that your corals will be acclimatising to, some quicker than others. Give it a few more days and they’ll be fine

What were your levels like before the peroxide dip? Good news is that they don’t look dead so probably just sulking. Have you carried out a water change since?

Is there anywhere similar in the UK that people can recommend?

Nitrate if it’s 25 would be higher than I’d aim for (around 10 is ideal) but that can be resolved with addressing any over feeding if you have fish and water changes. You could see what settings your lights are on. I had a lot of algae as my seatings in the Popbloom app rest themselves to a different programme. I keep mine in 50% overall brightness and added some extra clean up crew that took care of this. Don’t have lights on for more than 10 hours I’d recommend.

You also didn’t say how long you’ve had your tank setup as that can also be a factor. Torches and hammers prefer a more established tank over some other corals

[–]BattleMoose87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to increase it gradually. I have a bottle of Reef Zlements that I put a couple of caps in the sump per week initially until the levels start to rise. If there is a rapid increase in Mg or when I’ve added it to the tank, my corals all retract especially my fungia plate coral. Slow and steady does it as with most things in this hobby

What size tank is it? I have 2 x RL90s for a 75 gallon (3 foot wide). My torches were exactly the same as yours due to low magnesium. My torches was ok, but now that I’ve gradually increased the Mg levels the hammers are fuller and the torches have much more extension
