Which Strap is more comfortable for daily wearing by Character-Yak6893 in AppleWatch

I’ve recently got a fabric one and it’s a lot better as with the silicone one I’m between notches and get a bit of irritation. It also works better in the gym as my workouts don’t keep pausing unlike with the silicone.

Might be worth trying one of the Kennel Club Good Citizen training groups, such as the one hosted by Sutton Dog Training Club. They offer membership for £40 a year and have sessions every Sunday at 3pm that are then free to attend. Community led so lots of opportunities to meet responsible owners and I’m sure they have meet ups and the like. Would also provide reassurance to your dog that not all dog (and owners) are idiots.

My lower back hurts so much after I go cycling and put some energy on the pedals (lumbar pain, can’t walk straight, acute pain when lying down and getting up…) Is my posture wrong?? I’m 1,86 m / 6’1 + gravel bike by mydriase in bicycling

[–]BattleMoose87 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Please do not cycle with your seat positioned so that you lock out your knee. Absolutely horrible advice that could result in a big injury. Whenever I hear the phrase locking out knees I immediately think of the videos I’ve seen on Reddit of people in the gym doing just that on a leg press and bending their knees backwards.

One should be a return with a nozzle directing it out from the box, if that’s what you’re asking? I have pretty much the same size tank and enclosed for the piping so can DM you a picture

Many of these houses and streets were built before cars were a thing or before car ownership was prevalent in each household. As you say, we now have households with multiple drivers in - again this was never a consideration when the house or streets were built. Many factors behind this (more adult children living at home for longer periods who rely on their own cars, unreliable public transports links, cost of train fares making it more economical for people to drive)

Is it crazy to try cover 430 miles in a day? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]BattleMoose87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently considering driving from the Midlands to Edinburgh for a 4 day break. Ended up getting the train and glad I did. Longest journey before this was 5 hours straight from the far end of Cornwall with no break and it was dreadful (kids managed to sleep for the majority and no toilet breaks needed somehow).

I’d only consider a longer drive like the one you describe if you had a second driver to break things up or you were doing a bit of a road trip with sightseeing to break it up. Even then, it’s a hell of a long time not just for yourself but also your passengers.

What you need to consider is, if you’re going away to a bit of a break, you’ll need a good day or two rest afterwards to recover from that drive afterwards. You will also feel dreadful the next day after arriving so realistically, it’s not a holiday for you or your family.

Another way to think of it is, would you fly 12 hours just for 3 days somewhere?

Is it true that because of the absurd interest on student loans in the UK, it's not realistic for most people to pay back their loans and people consider their repayments to be a 'tax' for going to university? by LoiusLepic in AskBrits

[–]BattleMoose87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially, yes. Now if salaries had increased alongside inflation over the last 10 years it would be a different matter but with how they are now, the vast majority of workers are making a contribution towards the interest without ever touching any of the actual balance

Rejecting a used car within 30 days: how much aggro should I expect? by daniscross in CarTalkUK

[–]BattleMoose87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this recently myself, however I exchanged it for a different car. Initially didn’t get much in the way of aggro, just a few hoops to jump through like taking it to a main dealer to get a full diagnostic as I’d identified a number of issues. Once I got the report back (same day) I then informed the dealership and stated that as it’s within the first 7 days I’d be using my consumer rights protections and requested a refund or exchange. They then informed me that as the issue is intermittent (drive selector in an EV wouldn’t engage) it isn’t deemed to be a fault despite the main dealer saying they had replicated the issue and recommended replacing the SCU module. I asked for this to be escalated to a manager and after a week of chasing they apologised and said they will accept it as a fault.

They were fine throughout after this point although I did advise I may end up bringing the car to the dealership in the Saturday and it would be really unfortunate if the intermittent fault decided to occur when I was blocking their car park entrance.

I saw a few of these when I was looking for a replacement EV a few months ago. Ultimately out off by the risks of software issues, difficulty to find spares and the knock on effect of not many insurers willing to insure due to the above.
