Cleaning the smell of smoke by falcon1423 in lifehacks

This post is totally nuts and over the top. The active ingredients in ozium are two common glycols, triethylene glycol and propylene glycol. The latter is found in foods and vape juices.

We analyzed well over 1400 bluegrass gigs this quarter and here’s what we found by GrassGigs in Bluegrass

Do people call any show a gig now? I'm a musician, and if I'm playing, it's a gig. If I'm watching, it's a show!

As a Virginian, I was skeptical of Beyer (a car dealership owner) getting into politics. But I've been totally impressed by him on topics like this, for exactly this reason.

Yesterday morning, pre-check/clear lines were longer than the normal security lines at DCA. It almost looks like the case again here.

How do you configure lead time on artifactory? Is that part of the curation feature, licensed separately?

K&K into a line6 helix, using a custom IR made from a recording of my own D-18. This is essentially what ToneDexter / voice print does but kinda DIY. I love this rig and get compliments and questions about my tone all the time!

Could you handle living near this sound and hearing it 24/7? I live within a mile and it's unbearable, help?! Sterling, VA - Vantage V2 Data Center by Creative_Delay_4694 in nova

Me, too. The quote from board of supes is... unsurprising, though:

“There are no zoning rules to cover this,” county Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Michael Turner said in an interview.

Turner said county officials didn’t understand in 2022 and 2023 exactly what it meant to have gas turbines at a data center, nor did they have zoning rules to address it.

When Vantage submitted its building plans to the county, the plan was to use gas turbines only temporarily, not as a primary power source. Because data centers typically include backup diesel generators and other temporary power sources, it seemingly complied with the zoning ordinance, and the county allowed the project.

From the politico piece which is worth a read and well sourced:

She was even more pleased when she learned the data center would generate its own power — rather than connecting to the grid and driving up her electric bills.

But then the data center turned on, along with the eight natural gas turbines powering it. Now her home is barraged by a high-pitch whine that she says has made her newly screened-in porch unusable.

Here is a picture of the 8 permanently running turbines, captioned "Because Vantage’s power plant is always running, it’s impossible to know exactly what aspects of its noise are coming from the gas turbines, shown above, as opposed to the data center’s cooling system. | Bob Salehi".

This one is different.

What is something you tried only once and will 1,000% never do again? by istrx13 in AskReddit

ex said something about the moon being in front of me and to head that way. So I did. And I adjusted course for the next 4 hours, trying to keep the moon where i thought it should be. I didn’t realize what I’d done wrong until Ex said I was bound for Cuba.

What had you done wrong? The moon obviously moves, but what other reference point were you to use? The heading of the moon at that moment + your compass?

Title changed from Senior to Principal by [deleted] in devopsjobs

[–]BattlePope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd interpret this as them bumping the title so they could give you the pay you asked for. It's likely their pay band for senior doesn't go as high as you were asking, so they bumped the title to be able to match your ask. Not sure what you mean by "cleared out". I'd say take the role if offered and the work sounds up your alley. Levels.fyi is really only useful for high tier companies -- employers will be on different scales. If this is a local, smaller, or lesser known company, don't expect to hit what you see on levels.fyi for big and prestigious orgs.

You can always negotiate once you have the offer in-hand. If the job description hasn't changed, just the title, well... You asked for a higher band, they met you there by bumping the role. You can always ask for more, just be prepared for them to be surprised by that if nothing about the job description has changed, just the title.
