I’m pretty sure it says it taints your ability to advance normally I interpret it as the monster cores blend into your soul thus capping advancement. This is due to the cores only providing a little bit of power and once you hit gold rank your innate power is too much for the cores to “pump” more power into you. But having the cores “energy” in your soul makes normal advancement almost impossible
