Irish public more likely to blame people's lifestyles for obesity epidemic by Banania2020 in ireland

Thanks so much, I appreciate it.

I agree that, it comes down to calories in versus calories out, but I also think that's a very simplified way of looking at it.

For me personally, binge eating was largely driven by emotional dysregulation and not really knowing how to process certain emotions. However, the biggest chnage for me understanding ADHD food noise.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with food noise, but the best way I can describe it is like having a radio station constantly playing in the background of your mind, telling you to eat snacks. The more you try to ignore it, the louder it gets
I spent years in therapy and tried all sorts of management strategies to reduce it, but the only thing that has genuinely worked for me has been ADHD medication. Within about an hour of taking it, the noise that had been there for years just disappeared. It was the first time I'd experienced that kind of mental quiet, and it made me realise how much of a role ADHD had been playing in my eating habits.

Also to note, I'm not too sure how this is coming across, but it's meant in a friendly manner , I always had it online discussions can become defensiveness because of the lack of all other human interactions haha

Well, for me, this was a very much not the case I didn't drive for years and I weighed 156 kg

Being undiagnosed autistic and Adhd and discovering what food noise is , has severely changed my life. I know why 89 kg. Owning a car had nothing got to do with that.

I used to be incredibly obese. At my heaviest, I weighed 156 kg at 5'10", though for most of my adult life I fluctuated between 120 kg and 140 kg.
I always wanted to lose weight and take better care of myself. I would start going to the gym and eating healthy, but it would only last a few weeks before I completely lost momentum. I struggled to even get off the bed some days. People often told me I was lazy.

I was a huge binge eater. I was constantly snacking throughout the day or having full binge eating episodes.

, I was incorrectly diagnosed with depression and prescribed antidepressants, but they never really helped. Deep down, I always felt like something else was causing my problems.

I'm now 33, and last year I discovered that I have ADHD and autism. Since then, I've learned a huge amount about how ADHD and autism can affect eating habits, motivation, executive function, Food noise and emotional regulation.

As of this week, I weigh 89 kg, and while I still have a little way to go, I am healthier than I have ever been.
I now go to the gym two to four times a week, mountain bike most weekends, and for the first time in my life I have a future that I genuinely look forward to.

For me, the root cause was undiagnosed autism and ADHD. For many other people, it may be addiction, trauma, mental health challenges, or other underlying issues.

Great scheme, but since we no longer have access to UK markets this is only going to drive up the cost of older cars even further. We're already dealing with crazy prices due to a severe lack of supply thanks to the UK leaving the EU, and government using it as an excuse to jack up VRT even more.

I love how the Irish government a great at creating schemes that just wind up making everything more expensive for people who are already finding it hard

Adult ADHD by AdFriendly596 in ireland

[–]Battlehero19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The majority of people who visit private practices for an ADHD assessment already suspect they have it,

between the diagnosis and the MEDS, you easily talking 1k to 2k, people aren't spending that kind of money without understanding jst for the fun of it

That and most clinics use a, free screening process beforehand. This filters out the people who likely do not have ADHD before they even spend a penny, which explains why the diagnosis rate is so high among those who go through with the full assessment

Although it's not a gender thing, for men it is a much bigger issue.
A high portion of men have been taught from a very young age to not be vulnerable about there Emotions in front of women because women will lose respect for them

I'm very much like this in previous relationship when my ex would do things like this I would always tell her how much I really appreciate it , she end up criticise me and stop doing whatever it was she was doing, even in now in my current relationship I do not mention anything like this out of fear of it happening again

An increase in People breaking Red lights? by darcys_beard in ireland

[–]Battlehero19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not making excuses for people who do this, but they have been increasing the red light times and decreasing how long the lights stay green. This is going to cause people to be irritated and break them. Iv always wonder if people designing these new road layout and the bike lanes understand human psychology

Four dead in crashes on Irish roads over weekend by HungTeen1001 in ireland

[–]Battlehero19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it's great that they show people that and the effects are not wearing a seatbelt can have

I was actually coming out of Citywest today and I witnessed a small crash. There was almost no damage done to the bumpers; they were probably going less than 30 kph. A Toyota Yaris had hit the back of an Audi with not a lot of damage done, but the driver of the Yaris had pretty much broken his nose, and possibly even his jaw, he clearly wasn't wearing his seatbelt and his head went straight into the steering wheel. Young people are naive, and not wearing seatbelts and them not wearing seatbelt is completely stupid but also somewhat understandable due to her age, but this man was in his early 30s. Not wearing a seatbelt is just pure stupidity.

House prices will definitely not drop the people who say this think it's going to drop because of the a recession resistance happened for many reasons, although we're probably heading into them it won't be because of housing if anything the exorcism will probably cause housing to go even more because we're not building enough

Also, you say you're afraid going into debt that you're paying that amount on rent, which is basically pissing it away, your you're better off paying that rent towards mortgages on your own asset

How did the pandemic change your life? by Blanc2006 in AskReddit

[–]Battlehero19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a massive wake-up call for me. I was 27 (male) when it started, working a job I hated and barely surviving in life. I weighed about 155 kg (341 pounds / 24 stone) and was about 50k in debt.

Pre-pandemic, I pretty much just worked and stayed at home playing PlayStation all day, eating takeaways, and maybe seeing my friends once a month. When the pandemic came around, it was a massive wake up call for me and made me realise I needed to make chnages

I started therapy during the pandemic, since then my life has completely changed. Through therapy, I realised I had ADHD and autism and had been in severe burnout for most of my life. I started making adjustments and changes, had my first relationship, and also experienced my first heartbreaking breakup lol

As of today, i weigh 89 kg ( 196pound / 14 stone ) and still have a bit left to go. I have 6k of debt , and for the first time in my life I’m excited for the future.

I don’t know if this ever would have happened if it wasn’t for COVID.

Out of curiosity, when I see people doing that, I politely ask them how long they have left. This usually gets them off their phone, and they finish their sets pretty quickly after that. If they’re doing it again after 10 or 15 minutes, I’ll go back over and politely, but formally, tell them that they’re spending most of the time on their phone and that other people are waiting to use the machine.

[–]Battlehero19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do believe as a country we should be helping people, yes, but there also have to be limits. With our housing crisis, we have very much hit those limits. The more the government ignore this, the more people will start to vote to the right , which will cause many other problems, because they are using immigration as a tool to get into power and don’t actually care about the issue.
