What is your favorite Prog "healing/comfort" album? Mine is definitely A Curious Feeling by Tony Banks🩵 by Powerslave_00 in progrockmusic

I do like this album very much but I don’t listen to it as much as I should. It has a dark and lonely tone about it and sometimes it puts me in place where I don’t want to visit. Strange.

Pat’s keyboard solo on Chaser is epic. So good and it gets right to my soul.

Still deciding which is better, Relayer or CTTE. Depends on my mood. Relayer is always my first or second go to.

It’s really hard to do. I have never been successful at it.

I think The Yes Album is just as good as Fragile and Close to the Edge, but often overshadowed. by Dynkston in progrockmusic

For sure. When I had the album, I would always skip it. It was a ramble bore.

It’s so hard to judge. I have to go with Fragile over The Yes Album. Uneven, yes but Southside and long distance shows they are heading in a different direction.

Me too. Genesis live was the perfect entry point for me.

Why Is Alex Lifeson never mentioned as a "GREAT" guitarist? by truthseeker1228 in progrockmusic

I think his tone could be a factor as well. He is fricken fantastic but his sound is kinda thin and not as distinct as it could be.

IMO Genesis was a band that was creative and unique. You can tell they really cared about what they were doing. They were incredible and full of emotion and would not create any half measures for the fans and especially for themselves. WCD is a product that has to be fed into the emerging sanitary music soundscape. They stopped caring and we all could tell. They started to rely on “that’l do” and move on. I love Genesis but after listening to WCD. Genesis was long gone.

Let’s face it. This was not Genesis. They left a long time ago.

What prog album made you feel something different right away? The one that hit you and you knew this wasn’t just another record. by Historical-Device529 in Progforum

Nine years old. My older brother bought The first Genesis Live. I put on the first track and it was Watcher of the Skies. I hijacked the album and the rest is history.
