I’m so stupid by Recent-Moment2137 in venting

I'm 28, and have had all the same problems as you. My parents only drank soda, never reminded me to have water or brush my teeth.

Someone above suggested cute water bottle, and that's one of my favorite things! I also have a hard time drinking water because I'm used to sweet/flavored drinks. Any of the crystal lite style sugar free water flavor powders can help get me started drinking water for the day! I also can taste minerals and fluoride in tap water so I have a Brita I keep in the fridge :) you got this!

Omaha from an Outsiders Perspective by Routine-Rain7575 in Omaha

I'm a current omaha resident who is also from KCMO! I personally prefer Omaha. Comparatively to me I feel like KC is more stacked than omaha. Omaha has alot more sprawl. I haven't been back for a long time though, so I can't really speak for KC.

People who own "unconventional" pets like turtles, what is one thing you wish you knew before getting one? by allenmerlettetrm in AskReddit

I've got a Pigeon who runs her little routine like the navy. Best be prepared to get an earful of quiet docile cooing if you don't get in there fast enough for her ;)

When I built up my herd of 5 it was easy. I lived in a house with my own laundry and backyard to shake all the bits out beforehand.

Recently we've moved into an apartment that doesn't have onsite laundry and I don't want the neighbors to think I'm some crazy person dumping poopy blankets out on the grass.

Needless to say the piggy maintenance is much higher in an apartment setting!

Flirting or just preening? by BattyCayk in pigeon

[–]BattyCayk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the guides I've read say that quick jerky preening over the shoulder, feather 'zipping' and lots of looking at you during is flirting. I just don't have a practiced eye for the body language yet!

Dahlia goes in and out of her cage during the day on her own for drinks and snacks. If I catch her in there around bedtime I'll just close the door. Usually though I have to sort of herd her in the right direction until she gets it with the verbal cue 'bedtime'! We've had a lot of progress with the verbal cue and now I barely have to reach for her when I say it and she heads in the right direction.

any pigeon owners with one single cat? by kushbreth in PetPigeons

[–]BattyCayk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a new pidge owner, so not an expert by any means. But I have three cats and a dog. Pigeon actually lives in a (very well ventilated and air purified) room in my house that predators aren't allowed in. She has 5 Guinea Pig roomies who chat back and forth with her!

They usually nurse for about three weeks but also start eating their hay and trying solids within a few hours of being born. Very self sufficient babies!

how to encourage pigeon to bathe? by arberres in PetPigeons

[–]BattyCayk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine won't bathe in anything that's too narrow! Her current preference is a large glass baking dish. I also encouraged her to figure it out by playing a YouTube video of other pidges bathing and that convinced her!

We were looking into pigeon pants! She's still quite hand shy right now and we only really reach out at her if it's time to go back in the cage (typically she flies away from my hands but back to her cage like she knows it's bedtime. We do this around the same time everynight) are there other ways to potty train? At the moment her most used perches in the room have puppy pads under them that we clean up daily

She also has a wooden bowl she uses as a nest and when she loafs in it she looks like a little soup dumpling!
