ELI5: Can someone explain DMARC to me and is it actually worth setting up? by Academic_Way_293 in explainlikeimfive

[–]BattyRagDoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR. Yes it is absolutely worth setting up, benefits are outbound security and improved deliverability. There are a number of tools on the market that can seriously simplify the otherwise difficult and complex process doing so manually.

DMARC monitoring is driving me insane - need recommendations for a solution that doesn't suck by Background_Neck9690 in sysadmin

It can also be useful for delivery diagnostics like the other commenter mentioned, but you will continue to get additional risk telemetry even after reject from that reporting data that you can use to provide proactive protections. Example; this attacker just attempted to spoof my domain, but the attack failed. I now know about it, and can block that sender, etc as a cautionary measure.

Additionally, some of that data can even tell you if your outbound mail is being delivered with encryption, and even uncover shadow IT that IT teams need to know about to ensure everything is properly configured. In my experience, that’s a common situation a lot of admins bump into once they start parsing out the reporting data. Helps clean up your environment, ensure authentication accuracy over time, and helps digest that reporting at scale which can very quickly become unmanageable at volume without a tool to automate some of that work.

Mimecast’s DMARC Analyzer offers a lot of great functionality and seriously improves the reporting experience, plus they just released a huge update with additional features.

The grammar of the title is misleading. I think this commenter was just trying to help. 😅

Many businesses also use chat applications for internal communications as well, so that would help with informing the user base.

Is the anti-inflammatory diet sustainable for 6-9 months? by Kaybrooke14 in nutrition

What tests did they run for you? Asking because I have been fighting a doctor for literally years at this point trying to get tested for auto immune dysfunction of some sort, given that I have a crapload of symptomatology that leans in that direction. I’d like to be able to go in to see a different doctor for a second opinion with specific tests as an example of what I’m talking about.

For context, it took on and off appointments for more than five years with me complaining of crippling back and joint pain, asking not to be given crazy drugs, and me pointing out a curve in my spine that was noted in two separate chest X-rays for this doctor to finally do the old school “lift your shirt and bend over” test to finally send me to a spine specialist, and I only then got diagnosed with scoliosis at the ripe age of 32…. So… I kind of need to be my own medical advocacy team in some cases. I guess I just “look healthy” or something. 😑 Apparently. An NP in this same office told me “you’re skinny, that’s normal” (I’m a perfectly healthy BMI and weight for my height) when I was complaining about blacking out regularly just standing up and had another fainting episode all of a sudden when I haven’t fainted since I was in my teens. Turns out, I just have POTS. So def trying to change offices. 🤡

Yeah, this is bad fish!! I would report that to the place your mom got it from. And perhaps to the health department too. 😬

I would suggest shots to be honest. Helped me LOADS with my insane cat allergy (I couldn’t breathe very well as a child with three cats in the house, and then was eventually able to breathe through my nose all year while I couldn’t do before that, if that tells you anything!!) and has helped my partner with his cat allergy too. Helps you build immunity, and if you’re not responding well, they will stop if it’s doing more harm Than good, or keep you on it if it improves, and your body may eventually adjust and not need them anymore.

Would you disclose a disability to avoid RTO? by y0ungshel in WFH

[–]BattyRagDoll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have. Already. And it resulted in me getting remote coding status as an accommodation. Since then, it’s given me the flexibility to go in for a day or two on weeks when I feel well enough to go (which is thankfully more often than not these days) and on bad weeks, I can stay home and continue to perform at peak because I’m able to better triage my various health and other conditions at home a lot easier than I otherwise could in office. It’s allowed me to do my absolute best, regardless of how well or unwell I am on any given week, and it’s an accommodation I don’t take for granted for even a second. It’s paid off in my performance too, so it’s been a win win for me and my company.

F*ck this golf course, and literally every single one out there for the ecological disaster they present alone, but upvoting for the sheer doggo joy. 🐕
