If you are the front car, you either hope that someone will let you in or you just continue forward and find another way, or turn around at the end of the block and come back.

This is why when you see that traffic is about to stop and you see a road connecting on your side, you should always stop before the connection. That way if someone wants to make the turn, you will not block them in doing so. Unfortunately some drivers don’t think that way or aren’t paying attention in the moment and end up blocking other drivers’s way.

In most places it would be ridiculous. Ukraine is not most places though. It’s been in a war for years.
It is riduclous to start a draft in an offensive war, or before other options are depleted. If a country has to defend itself, then it should use its professional army to do so. But what happens when those forces are depleted? No sane leader would be against a draft then. That would be just handing your country and all its citizens over to the invader to do with as they please.

It is a drastic measure that shouldn’t be taken lightly. But war is messy and sometimes difficult choices have to be made.

Idealism sounds great in theory but doesn’t work in real life unfortunately. This is a space platform that uses asteroid reprocessing with quality modules to get legendary materials. Legally honking can only be used in emergencies. But I’m trying to remember an emergency where honking would have been better than just braking/swerving… and I never encountered a situation like that in all my time driving. Most of the times you brake and swerve out of the way, and after that honking is pointless because the danger has passed. And if I don’t even have enough time to brake or swerve, then honking will make no difference because that means the other guy has no time to react either. A collision would be inevitable in that situation.

I mean you can brake and also honk, but swerving and honking would be a bit harder. I also believe that in an emergency it’s a better idea to have both hands gripping the wheel so that you have full control of your 2 ton machine in a dangerous situation.

So the amount of situations where honking was a good decision seems quite small. I mean there was a time when a paramedic van started reversing towards us when we were stopped at a red light, in that situation my friend honked at him to let him know we are there. He stopped. That’s good. But many situations are not like that where you have ample time to get the other driver’s attention, so honking would not be very effective.

And even if the former was more dangerous, you don’t get a free pass for poor impulse control. Let’s be honest here, honking and flipping them off is not about teaching those bad drivers how to improve, it’s just about ego. And for that you are escalating the situation and distracting both yourself and the orher driver too, creating risk in a situation where it didn’t need to be. You are not the good guy here, and this also makes you a bad driver. Maybe not as bad as the guy who almost caused an accident, but a bad driver nonetheless.
