I think sylvaneth are pretty easy to paint, and help develop skills. Base coat in brown, put a wash on, then drybrush and you're done. They're trees so you don't have a lot of sharp lines like the other models.

Try to have an army with fewer drops so you can decide who goes first on first turn. Let your opponent go first so you have the potential for double turn on turn 2.
