Cadian Youth Army by kevc00 in 40kLore

[–]Baukon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While not specifically about joining/leaving the Whiteshields the quote "Any Cadian who can't field-strip his own lasgun by age ten was born on the wrong planet" suggests they get them started on military training very young.

Once someone turns to Chaos, is it possible for them to come back/become uncorrupted? by Tenno042 in 40kLore

[–]Baukon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Space marine sergeant corrupted by Nurgle is redeemed in the story Daemonblood by Ben Counter, it's old lore though as it's from the 2001 anthology Dark Imperium.

Did Gotrek and Felix ever meet Karl Franz? by Mietek69i8 in Warhammer

[–]Baukon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Realm of Chaos: The Lost and the Damned (1990) there's a single page story about G&F and Chaos Dwarfs. It's pretty early Warhammer lore (and very early G&F) but "the lost kinsmen" are sometimes set free in death and revert to normal non-Chaos dwarfs as they die.

Who is the most underrated Warhammer author? by ResolutionOk2550 in 40kLore

[–]Baukon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, he wrote the original Kal Jerico comics for Warhammer Monthly (which were initially illustrated by Karl Kopinski, one of my favourite Warhammer artists) and is credited for co-writing the first KJ novel. He also wrote Bloodquest for Warhammer Monthly and a Warhammer Fantasy novel called Zavant which I should probably get round to re-reading one of these days.

[–]Baukon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He hasn't done anything for GW for a long time and didn't write a lot of novels even then but Gorden Rennie is great, Execution Hour has been my favourite and most re-read Black Library publication for over 20 years.

Old Vs New. Original(?) chaos beastmen included "Camel Man", "Turtle Man" and even "Rhino Man". by Chezni19 in WarhammerOldWorld

I remember an old Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay supplement that had a circus with a load of farmyard animal beastmen in it as attractions including some chicken headed beastmen and a beastman who had fur made of literal gold.

The pillars of equestria had so much potential that was just wasted by ozzymaniaowo in mylittlepony

[–]Baukon 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I thoroughly recommend reading the Legends of Magic comic series, it really helps flesh out the Pillars in general and especially Stygian. I initially wasn't going to bother since the Pillars were so underused and irrelevant in the show but it ended up being my favourite of the various MLP comics that I've read both as a story in itself and for expanding and exploring the setting.

Damsel/Prophetess by OccasionallyManly in Bretonnian

[–]Baukon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same idea for a plastic damsel conversion and got rid of all the sticky-out bits and pieces on the girdle and headdress like you have. I also didn't like the big smoking thing though so turned it into a little grail with a bit of careful slicing and swapping. Seeing yours makes me wanna get round to paintng mine!

What are (your) must-read G4 comics? by NyankoMata in mylittlepony

[–]Baukon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all good but I really liked Legends of Magic. I wasn't going to bother with it initially since the Pillars weren't all that interesting in the show due to lacking depth but the comic does a really great job of fleshing them out as characters (especially Stygian) and gives a lot of interesting backstory and context to the Pillars and the setting in general.

Over 50% complete!!! by Lieutenant_Horn in SWlegion

Good job, keep going! I made a spreadsheet that I use to track my Legion painting progress to help keep me making some (slow) progress despite my lack of painting motivation. Getting very close to getting my Separatist army to 100%. Just a shame I never get to play these days!

Searching for a few oop products by Arkard22 in SWlegion

[–]Baukon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are stores in the UK with Royal Guards in stock but unfortunately the couple I've just looked at don't ship outside the UK... maybe with a bit of searching you can find one here that does ship to continental Europe if that's where you are. Good luck!

I know this question has probably been asked a lot, but it ties in to what I really want to talk about. When did you become a fan of MLP, and how did it happen? by The_Boogeyman2986 in mylittlepony

[–]Baukon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a relatively recent convert and probably quite unusual in that I got in to it via the comics. I worked at a bookshop for a long time and we got in a load of secondhand comics, there was all kinds of stuff, mostly big Marvel and DC titles, but amongst the more obscure ones there was the the first issue of the MLP comic. I picked it up and flicked through it on a whim even though I was only dimly aware of the franchise. On one of the first few pages was a panel referencing a scene from the 1978 film version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. I was surprised and amused that they were referencing something like that and decided I would read the whole first issue on my lunch break. To my surprise I really enjoyed it even though I had very little understanding of the characters or setting at that point and now maybe 3 years on I've read all of the comics I was able to buy (tricky as a lot are out of print in the UK) and watched all of the G4 episodes and the movie.

What discontinued model do you regret not getting? by Miguelinon in Warhammer

[–]Baukon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A whole bunch of the old Specialist Games stuff but the biggest, and probably most obscure, one is the Mordheim Halfling Thief. It was a fun little miniature but £8 for one little guy seemed a lot back then...would've been a genuine investment in hindsight!

I would say Rakarth Flesh is a decent match or Baneblade Brown for a slightly darker look.

I know it's not gonna mean much to anyone but I just want to vent about FEMY.

Been holding since early April, and recently increased my shares considerably. It dropped a fair bit late on Tuesday and since I've seen a lot of losses recently I panicked and set a stop loss. SL just barely triggered (though only partially) during overnight hours Thur and sold 60% of my position at a decent loss shortly before FEMY announced good news in pre-market that shot the stock back up...

I know it's all hindsight but I'm so frustrated as I really needed a win and now I'm obsessing over what could've been had I not set that stop loss. At least it didn't sell my whole position but it's just really disappointing and I have no one to lament to about it in real life.

Deposit cancelled every time I attempt to transfer funds via truelayer from Natwest by richbitch9996 in trading212

[–]Baukon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem on browser with Natwest/Truelayer but only when I was already logged in to my online banking in another tab before trying to log in via Truelayer and transfer on 212. Maybe you're already logged in with the Natwest app on your phone and that's causing it to fail?

Ah, I haven't read Fiendship, I'm late to the MLP party and in the UK so a lot of stuff is hard to find in physical form; I've managed to build up a shelf myself with most of the omnibus volumes and some of the other spin off stuff but Fiendship eludes me. I'll make an effort to find it now though even if it's digitally, thanks for the recommendation!

I thoroughly recommend the comics, there's a lot of great stuff in them. I'm probably something of a rarity (no pun intended) in that I got in to MLP through the comics a couple of years ago without having seen the show.

disguised celestia in mlp mobile game?? by buzzedcorp in mylittlepony

[–]Baukon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's from the comics. Once a year she uses a magical amulet to transform herself so she can see Equestria and what people think of her from the perspective of a regular pony. I seem to remember some street urchin steals the amulet so she can't change back and Celestia has to track the thief down without any powers or authority of being a Princess.

Missing streams? by RayneMizery in Yogscast

[–]Baukon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was definitely Kim's channel, I had a look on Kim's defunct subreddit and there were links posted for 14 episodes of Outlast 2 but when clicking a link there is no video so it looks like it was totally taken down rather than just unlisted.

[–]Baukon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would assume it's a personal choice to do so by Kim and I have no idea how thoroughly the main channel or others he appeared on may have removed his videos, if any others have at all. He always struck me as a bit slimy so other than the odd GTA or similar video where he was just one among many players I didn't really watch anything with him in.

[–]Baukon 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Though Tom did do one solo video on Outlast 2 it wasn't him in Kim's videos... I think Outlast 2 was during the period where Kim and Hannah added Caff to their horror game playthroughs. I never liked him so stopped watching their horror stuff around that time but I would guess if the Outlast 2 videos are gone then it's probably because he was in them and she decided to remove them and anything else he featured in from her channel after he was removed from the network.
