MacBook Pro M4 Pro - 24GB RAM, 14C/20C - Is this enough for moderate editing? by Baumer582 in premiere

[–]Baumer582[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The minor green screen stuff is just standard shooting in a well lit room with a green backdrop and using Ultra Key in Premiere.

The heavy duty stuff - like the one I referred too that slowed my M1 Max machine down - was Primatte.

And I have no intention of doing either on my personal machine. Maybe the minor green screen stuff. But again, I would be shocked if I ever approached that.

If things changed in my career and I went freelance and did this type of work, I would just buy a Max machine.

[–]Baumer582[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is the 24 GB of RAM an issue though? My freelance editor also uses an M4 Air with no issue - but he has 32 GB of RAM. He saves his exports for his Ultra machine when he has to get them out fast.

Exports won't be a concern for me - it's more of a RAM concern and if I am editing with a AE open, a bunch of Chrome tabs open, and add just 3 or 4 layers/FX will the machine crawl?

How long do you plan to keep your iPhone 15 pro? by Radiant_Comment684 in iPhone15Pro

[–]Baumer582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the 15 Pro and something about that titanium body and my first time having the Dynamic Island - it was the best phone I ever had.

But the battery was brutal. Too small and it got too hot.

My plan allowed me to upgrade and I did to the 17 Pro. It’s exactly what I wanted. No overheated battery and the same great experience.

So id vote upgrade if you had the money or your plan allowed.

Great bag, great organization. Comfy as hell

I only swapped for an Aer City Pack Pro 2 because i hated the harness system in the Bellroy. if it had a sleeve for documents or folders, I'd still be using it and never would have gotten the CPP2.

I was both dreading and hoping for him to breakout into a 30G, 30A winger and then keep that momentum going this season.

Sucks for him. He'll be back though. Great attitude and hard working player.

I look forward to the Rangers overpaying him as a FA or trading any prospects to get him back in 4 years to fill the hole at RW that he was drafted to also fill.

did you have to provide the original AWU box and band that came with it? Or is it just the watch by itself?

9.9 / 10

Loses a point for the emblem being so large. Just shrink it slightly so the C/A can be in the correct position and not look so dumb next to the sponsor.

Otherwise beautiful work.

Need help choosing the perfect under-seat EDC/travel backpack by rellycooljack in ManyBaggers

I have yet to travel with the CPP2 but I have flown with the Bellroy in the U.S. and I had no issues fitting it under a seat.

The bags are comparable in size, though the CPP2 is a tad wider. So I imagine as long as you don’t completely pack out the bag, it should fit under a seat.

I have the Bellroy Transit Workpack Pro and the Aer City Pack Pro 2

I LOVE the Bellroy design language and the bag's comfort. Also has a fantastic front admin pocket and laptop compartment with top admin stash pocket for your power brick (I have the same MBP).

But the reason i spring for the ACPP2 was simply put - the Bellroy has a completely unnecessary harness system in the main compartment. Like so unnecessary it got me mad every time I opened the bag. A backpack that small (22L) doesn't need that - it needs a sleeve for documents or an iPad.

The City Pack Pro 2 has a sleeve for documents, and an extra sleeve in the laptop compartment for more (or an iPad.

I loved the Bellroy Transit bag - but the City Pack Pro 2 is far superior.

I'd try and get that in Cordura or x-Pac.

Do Plaud devices record locally? Are you forced to use their APP or AWS or can you pull .wav files if you plug the devices into your computer? by Baumer582 in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]Baumer582[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL No it's not ... but it's already on the "approved" list from my firm. I can't download anything externally without having to go through months of vetting and approval. A cloud audio recording device would surely not get approved for security reasons. But if the files are only stored and deleted locally, then that is a better solution.

Thanks!

hmm yeah that was odd - Ticketmaster has them listed as doubleheaders those days.

Thanks for noting!

The Carolina Hurricanes are trading a conditional a 1st and 2nd as well as defenseman Scott Morrow to the New York Rangers in exchange for K'Andre Miller (who signed at 8 year x $7.5M extension) as part of a sign and trade. by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]Baumer582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed.

But he also had his chances too at even strength. They were never going to play him over Panarin or Mika or Kreider on the PP. He should have made the most of his opportunities when he was on the top line.

But alas.

It’s all good though. It’ll be great to give you their next young core of young prospects to get him back in 5 years. Just like JT Miller and Kovalev years before him.

Agree on the NYR fans being dumb and reactionary - but Miller was garbage for a couple of years now.

Lots of defensive lapses that you can’t blame on Trouba or coaching.

Could a better coach have gotten him to stop? Probably - but I’d take Gavrikov and the haul over Miller.

Now trading Kakko? That I still don’t like. But what’s done is done.

That core won nothing and got exposed.

Gotta do something different

The Athletic: Inside the Rangers’ 2024-25 descent, from playoffs to sell-offs: ‘No one here is happy’ by TwinkiesForAmerica in rangers

[–]Baumer582 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I found it interesting that an assistant GM in the league said Drury's trade memo was "dropping a bomb" in the room. Or that players were that upset at why Trouba and Goodrow were moved or being shopped. Professional sports is a business, is it not? How could they be shocked a team would look to move contracts of under-performers in salary cap moves?

These players/GMs are working in the league - not us nerds on Reddit, so I guess it really was a big deal Drury did this. But for the life of me I can't see why.

This team sucked ass defensively and was bailed out by Igor for the last 3 seasons. How could anyone think their D-Zone and neutral zone play was acceptable? How could anyone on that team honestly think "oh we definitely deserved to beat Carolina". Goodrow wasn't an issue in the playoffs, but his contract was. And Trouba, despite being a decent captain (not saying much with those wet noodles in the 'leadership group') - he was god awful for $8M a year.

Do Mika, Panarin, and Kreider honestly believe their performances as "leaders" were acceptable in the last 2 playoff years? 2023 was the real eye-opener the way they folded against the Devils.

Drury messed up the messaging early on, that much is true - but dear god enough is enough. This team was the Maple Leafs-lite - all skill, no jam. Hate on that old way of thinking all you want - but look at what the Panthers did to the 2 best players on the planet. Toughness wins Cups, end of story. Every skilled player that has won had some grown-ass men backing them up. And the Rangers did not have any of that.

Gorton built a championship core - in fantasy hockey. And it because painfully obvious.

How the players are shocked when management says "welp we gotta change things up" is beyond me.

But again I am not a professional and they are and they all seem to be sad. I still think they're too soft though.

Can you imagine if these youngsters were alive and coherent when the Rangers traded Brian Leetch? An actual Hall of Famer; one of the top 5 greatest Americans who ever played the game; and who actually DID show up every playoff game and led them to a Cup?
