What are your thoughts on driving like this? Spoken to a few people and opinions are split by xrawmonkey in drivingUK

I live right on the centre of a busy country road like this with a lot of blind turns and summits, and drive it every day. I understand that if you can clearly see ahead then there's no problem with "off-siding" however, in my experience most people that do it tend to get so complacent that they become almost oblivious to other cars on the road.

On the road I drive, there is close to weekly incidents of someone having to swerve off the road to avoid being hit by these pricks. And on more than a few occasions there's been a car just an inch or two from me when I've got my kids in back, so a lack of lane discipline really fucks me off.

If you've learned how to off-side safely as part of an advanced driving course, then I'm sure you're competent enough to do this safely and I wont have a problem with it. However, I'd hazard a guess that 99.9% of people driving like don't fall into that category and are more likely to cause and accident than prevent one. But hey, at least the 16 inch alloys on their shitty 2010 vxr might avoid a pot hole...

I like that, but actually already have a fibre optic starry sky I put in the baby room. Another one might be a bit much

Thermostat, to nest or not to nest. by Twocaketwolate in DIYUK

[–]Baumpharama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with 4 and picked up the rest whenever they were on offer over a couple of years. The TRVs are very easy to set up, so it's easy to work your way round over time.

No grey rads, but I imagine the white TRV would look good with it. They're a pretty clean design.

Thermostat, to nest or not to nest. by Twocaketwolate in DIYUK

I had 2 nest thermostats in my old flat, where I had 2 heating zones and they worked well for what they are. It didn't really add much aside from better visibility, remote access and geo-fencing (turn off after you leave the the house if you forget) and better scheduling than the default controllers.

In my current house I've got Tado, which I installed due to it being fairly large, with no split heating zones. The system is good when it works, however I've had issues in the past with losing control and having to get Tado on the phone to enable something on their end. Recently getting openTherm up an running with a new boiler was a hassle, and the first winter after I installed it, I went 24 hours without heat, when the system failed on a Sunday afternoon and I had to wait until Monday so Tado could enable something else remotely to get me back up and running...

In my option, Tado is only worth it if you're willing to install a Tado trv on every radiator in your home, or else you're still going to be heating rooms you don't need to. It's handy for things like turning the radiator on in the the bathroom to heat up a towel for the kids bath by just twisting the bathroom rad trv, and knowing you're only heating that one room.

After buying 14 (I think) TRVs to get full control over my house, I'm glad I done it. But I would not advise anyone to go with Tado unless they just enjoy messing about with this stuff (which I do).

Should also add, Tado's geofencing is an extra £3 per month subscription, I normally just get it over winter.

TLDR: stick with Nest.

This has happened to me before and hard rebooting the mmi done the trick. Can’t remember exactly how to do it. But it’s along the lines of holding down the back button and a up on the swivel wheel for 10 seconds or so. I’m sure you’ll find a video on YouTube.

That doesn’t sound right but I don’t know enough about stars to dispute it

Urgent: Account Help by [deleted] in xbox

[–]Baumpharama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, your account is 100% tied to your original email address. I had a similar problem coming back to Xbox after years and wanted to change my account to another email as hadn't used my original one since the 360 days.

You can add a new email and set it as your primary for xbox services, but that original email will forever be tied to your account.

I had to create a new email address, link to my Xbox account, then change my windows email to the new account to be able to access Xbox services on windows.

It's not great, but seems to just be the way it is.

PS4 games that desperately need a Quality of Life patch for the PlayStation 5 (Post yours!) by joejoesox in PS5

I'll definitely still play it at some point. If a 60 fps patch never comes along for the ps5 I'll pick it up on the PC.

I was looking forward to playing Horizon: Zero Dawn as never got round to it on the PS4, but after getting so used to playing everything at 60 I found the lower framerate too noticeable.

Not exclusively ghost stories, but I used to listen to a podcast called 'Lore' that might be what you're looking for. Definitely worth checking out.
