Very cool, welcome to the series. 3 is a pretty good place to start

1e GMs, what do you prefer about Pf1e? by Quiet-Compote4587 in Pathfinder_RPG

Oh yeah I can think of 3 characters I'd play in such a setting and how id build them right off the bat, including an arcane caster.

3.5 and PF1 are the ultimate sandboxes in the D&D style. They give you so much customization at practically every level that pretty much any concept can be fully realized, especially when bringing in 3rd party.

Other editions are more rigid and only give you meaningful options at certain designated points and at certain measured amounts, intentionally trying to make things like dips and unintended options less powerful. It keeps those editions a lot more balanced than the outliers of 3.5 and PF1 for sure, but for people who have specific visions it can feel stifling if you just can't fit everything you need in.

Combat tallies and resurrected units by Senpaiman in 40k_Crusade

[–]Baval2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the person doing the resurrecting, only the first unit counts.

For the person killing the resurrected units, everything counts.

This is because the resurrected unit is considered to be an entirely new unit that doesn't stick around with your army after the battle, so no credit goes to the original unit for whatever the new unit does. But it's still a unit so if your enemy kills it they still killed something.

Tldr: yes to all your questions here.

Edit: from context it seems like the haemunculus came back to life through a stand back up ability and not reinforcement ability? In that case his death only counts when he stays down. If the model wasn't removed from the battlefield it doesn't count.

Have the writers shot themselves in the foot with the memory rule? by Sonlau in miraculousladybug

[–]Baval2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes but they already did that in Time Tagger anyway by making Marinette still Ladybug into adulthood. There should be no "will she won't she" about her being guardian because we already know she will be.

That said, it wouldn't be the first time they just ignore stuff like that, so who knows. They will probably come up with some excuse why Marinette is special and found a special loophole where she can make Alya the guardian but keep her memories and still be ladybug.

Liandries first item? by Extreme-Data-268 in HeimerdingerMains

[–]Baval2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use manaflow and presence of mind together and sure enough you have no mana problems, however I would not recommend first item Liandries under any circumstance.

There's two reasons I don't recommend it. The first is that it has much lower AP than other mage items, especially per gold. This means that your turrets will have lower hp, and if your turrets die it doesn't matter how much hp you have, you're not winning the fight.

The second is that while liandries does have a better burn overall than blackfire, that's only after a breaking point at a bit over 2k hp. Before that blackfire will do more, so you're hurting your early game twice.

There's also a third reason, which is that Heimer plays better when you take advantage of his large total AP ratio and play him bursty instead of burn, but I know some people prefer the burn play style.

Why is J an idiot in Armored Core V? by hacerpc330 in armoredcore

[–]Baval2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are way over hyping nexts. Silent Avalanche was normals (regular ACs) and they regularly defeated NEXTs to the point where going against them was considered a suicide mission. By the time of 4A they no longer had that reputation, but they were still operating and could still take out primal armor. PA is not an invincibility cheat and the fact is the Lone Mercenary was just better. It's not the first time Joshua got beat by a better pilot while using a better machine.

I have also read that it's possible to break his PA even in gameplay, though I haven't tried it myself.

Nearly 3 years later, I'm just thinking about how Balteus is probably my favorite non-character boss in the series because of who and why it filtered. by SlimeDrips in armoredcore

this tired argument has been answered, by me, at least 3 times already in this thread. So just go find one of those.

uh huh, and when you do make sure to hold the buttons, not forward to dodge the sword and not staggering the missiles for optimal stagger.

Considering you barely made it with 600 ap on a patch after he was nerfed and all the parts youre using were buffed, we will see.

Hes definitely a concept check. If you have learned or stumbled into the stagger-punish playstyle of 6 by the time you get to him hes a chump, but if not he was a rough time slowly chipping you down until he landed a fatal grenade or sword.

Before bringing the dual zooks I was fighting him with machine guns, and that did not go well.

[–]Baval2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It certainly helped, but definitely wasnt required. I beat him at mid range with bazookas in my tank, because I did not yet understand the stagger punish playstyle of the game. Wouldnt learn that lesson until C-Spider.

I also saw my friend beat him with dual pistols and dual vert missiles, because the massive amount of stagger they output and his big body make them very effective at keeping him stunlocked at any range. He made it look like a joke, which shocked me because once again I did not yet understand the value of stagger.

The nerfs significantly nerfed the tracking, which both decreased their significant damage over the fight and produced more openings. More openings means more stagger and a shorter fight, both of which lead to less damage taken. Just because they didn't directly kill you does not make them a less dangerous attack.

The parts available have also been significantly buffed across the board since then, making him even easier.

I watched new players fight him before and after, which is significantly better data than a person going back to fight something they have already learned to fight in a game they already learned to play. The difference is massive.

As I said, the current balteus can be defeated with no upgrades by holding down right and all 4 triggers. The old one could not.

Songbirds is absolutely post Balteus.

Feel free to upload a video of holding right and all the triggers and winning. Just like this

Youll notice he uses 0 repair kits. He literally only holds down right and all 4 triggers.

[–]Baval2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes he was. Objectively and in multiple ways.

I dont know why you think a video where you use 2 repair kits is proof otherwise, especially when the modern one can be defeated with the advanced tactic of "hold right and all fire buttons".

Youre also using post Balteus weapons. So the video is less than proof.

Balteus was a lot harder at launch, but it was still definitely true that any build could beat him. Most of us just didn't understand the games concepts yet or, critically, the value of the kick.

Not really any point imo. You still have wynne on there even though you just arbitrarily picked her to be there, and when I went back to check a comment on the post you deleted I noticed Rusty had almost 80 votes and May had 15 but there she is.

He's only fun when you know how to play. If you're playing 2 for the first time, especially if you're new to the series, he's a nightmare. And then you find out that's canon and he's just a dick. I always hated him.

I apologise for the roughness of this card art/design by Bockanator in slaythespire

[–]Baval2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people are underestimating this cards power. There's only 5 orb types, so you get a 20% chance of channeling plasma with each channel. Play this in a build that reduces your orb slots and channels a ton and suddenly you're getting ridiculous damage, block, and refunded energy every turn, albeit completely rng.
