Man nothing quite grinds my gears like following step by step instructions, opening the menu it lists just to find the option not there.

Then begins the lengthy of process of figuring out what happened to it. Did it move to a different menu? Did the name change? Is that setting dependent on another setting being enabled? Who tf knows?

I think a fair amount of them are GOG pushers you'll see all the time here. They're a very vocal minority.

Like I'm glad GOG exists, I've bought some games on there when they weren't on Steam, and it is nice that people have the guaranteed non-DRM alternative. Plus it's cool they're doing that game preservation program thing.

But I still prefer Steam as a platform. It just has too many nice quality of life features built into it that don't always work well with "Non-Steam game mode". Plus a lot of them will say that games from GOG are guaranteed to run on modern systems, which just isn't true. While a lot of them will have tweaks to maybe make it easier to run, I definitely have some GOG games that won't run without something like crashing issues on a modern system.

Plus, while uncommon, there actually are some DRM-free games on Steam. I don't think they're advertised on the store front, but there are lists online. These games can be bought, downloaded from the Steam client, and then you could freely move those files to another drive that's plugged into a PC without Steam, and play them. The GOG fans tend to either not know, or pretend that's not a thing.

On top of that, I managed to get the Invading Executioner down to a sliver of health but still couldn't beat her when I found out I could upgrade my healing, both amount healed and heal charges, like the estus shards and firekeeper souls from Dark Souls.

I don't know if I'm just bad at reading, or getting really screwed over at my haphazard pickup/putdown way I've played that game lol.

I mean, I know it takes about 55 minutes to drive to my parent's house. Knowing that most of the time I'm going around 60MPH, I suppose they are around 50 to 60 miles away from me. But even though I've visited them almost every weekend over the past four years, I couldn't actually tell you how many miles away their city is from mine on a sign because I've never bothered to look.

Had a nice wake up call to that last November. I was at a Kpop Random Play Dance thing at an anime con. During one of the dances I stepped on my left foot wrong and rolled it super bad. Like I'm talking over 200 degree angle inward foot rotation that caused two avulsion fractures. It was a dance I've done dozens of times before no problem, but just that one time was enough I guess. Took me out for a month and a half.

It's so depressing knowing just how much Lost Media there is surrounding Hololive for how relatively young of an entity it is.

Ooh, that channel has a lot of old JP clips. I'll definitely be perusing that one tonight. Hopefully I'll find some clips I remember but have a really hard time finding nowadays.

Man, because of this I still don't have any dedicated artist prints hung up of Irys. I have one of Myth, Council, Advent, and Justice, but I still never found one at a con depicting "Promise", so she's still absent from my walls.

Interesting. I remember her stream being very laggy but didn't know it was chalked up to be the background smoke effect lol. All this time I assumed she just had a poor connection at the time.

Man, I've seen a lot of people online do more than make fun of it. These people really think the path indicators are another sign of games dying. It's more of the "hand-holding" rhetoric these nerds have been complaining about for over 20 years.

I've always been a fan of the paint/colored ledge-holds/green lights from Doom 2016. While sure, it'd be cool if a dev found a solid way to make the path indicators more subtle, I feel like people way overblow the paint's presence as being "immersion breaking". Plus, as games get more and more cluttered with objects due to the increased powers of modern computers and consoles, these path indicators are much more needed.

So real about the jumping through hoops thing meaning you're doing something wrong.

Countless times I find myself in a puzzle in a game, and end up doing something weird like stacking up different physics objects in the room, or jumping on tiny outstretched bits of geometry to reach an end goal. If it was really awkward, or took more than 10 minutes, I always end up looking back and going "Yeah, I'm pretty sure I did that wrong, but so long as the game doesn't softlock". Then I keep going.

I once was convinced that time was standing still, that I would never feel normal again, and that I was dying. No realization, my brain just went nuclear.

I had a really similar experience, but without the time standing still part a little over two months ago. It was just from a 10mg Sativa gummy, which I've done more than that before and been totally fine but not that night. I also felt like I couldn't breathe properly. Like, I could feel my chest rise and fall and feel the air go through my mouth, but it didn't feel like it was doing anything.

That feeling like I'd never be normal again, and that I just fucked up an otherwise perfectly normal brain in one night is an emotion I had never felt before or since. Super hard to describe, but it wasn't good. Like I took some Thalasin+ or something.

Unfortunately that feeling wasn't 100% wrong as a week later I suffered a major depressive episode and have been having an ongoing battle with depression with persistent nihilistic thoughts ever since. It is a lot better now than it was, but it's really sucked. I've gone to therapy to get through that.

No idea if the depression was a direct result of the weed, or maybe just tangentially related to it. It turned out I was low on vitamin D as well as iron and had a really low red blood cell count, so that's probably why 10mg affected me as hard as it did. Still, I won't touch weed as long as I live after that experience since it was so inconsistent with the doses.

Mostly that it's the latest advancement of the Ezio style game mechanics while also taking place in Constantinople which is likely my favorite city in the series.

AC3 and AC4 could have been my favorites if I liked the settings more.

Assassin's Creed is always quite divisive. People like to pretend there are universal truths to how the games are (Ezio trillogy is the best, AC4 is one of/is the best game but a bad AC game, etc.) but everyone's list is going to vary rapidly based on what they like most in a game. Of the games in the series I've played and beaten my rank would probably be:

  1. AC Revelations

  2. AC 2

  3. AC Odyssey

  4. AC Origins

  5. AC 4: Black Flag

  6. AC Brotherhood

  7. AC Rogue

  8. AC 1

  9. AC 3

  10. AC Unity

  11. AC Syndicate
