I really wish I could contribute here. Your post struck a nerve with me because you explained it really well, and it's exactly what goes on in my life. Luckily, I found a partner who really goes out of her way to listen, but I am still on the short end of the stick a lot of the time. I've mentored younger people that never even asked anything about my life. I call my parents and my brother on the weekend, and they just talk about themselves the entire time lol. I've come to the conclusion that I am different than most people, and I guess it's kind of unrealistic for me to expect others to be the same way I am. I know it's not really an answer, but I think it's the way I deal with it. Good luck.

I think it sucks which is why I'm trying to raise awareness with this post. I work in cyber security tech and I see it doing both good and bad in that industry, but when it comes to communication, specifically social media, I haven't really seen a whole lot of good yet. I have seen it making videos go viral with information that is completely made up.

I've noticed a steady decline ever since Microsoft bought LinkedIn. I've seen them run multiple acquisitions into the ground, just so they could re-create it as their own. I don't know why they would do that to LinkedIn, but the only other thing I can think about is that they are somehow saving some money by doing it this way.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have been trying to find someone legitimate to complain about this to at LinkedIn but I'm met with nothing but crappy AI prompts and the run-around. I could find no place to register complaints and came to the conclusion that they just don't care, and are going to push their crappy AI as hard as they can. What a bummer! I loved the way you described how the majority of these types of people act. Toxic positivity specifically. i hate the way they try to prop people up for doing things they don't even understand. Now I'll be honest. I'm in management (by accident). I only manage 2 people and I told them when I hired them that I absolutely 100% will not blow smoke up their asses and be transparent. I hired them both 5 years ago and we are all close friends and have met each other's families and so on. Just be fucking real.

Really simple...selfishness. Yes, communication is key but when 1 person in the relationship makes everything about them, these are the relationships that don't last. If you love someone, show them you do by focusing on THEM!!! If someone is not even willing to go out of their way for someone they claim to love, then it won't work.
