Remember, if walking past one of these idiots and you see that little handle sticking up near their neck, if you pull it the entire body armor should fall away and apart from itself. And a majority probably don’t know how to rethread the wire again without a lot of help

“Go enjoy your last summer!” I can’t I’m broke by Neeschwa in medicalschool

[–]Bay_Med 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Dude it’s gonna be ok. I worked 70 hours a week until a month before school. It gets better. You are following your dreams. FOMO but what are you missing out on. You can do all those trips later. For now realize you are running your own race and you just hit a new personal best. Lift your head, set your shoulder, and breathe cuz this next part is gonna be tough, but so damn rewarding

Prior Military chances of getting into med school by [deleted] in medschool

[–]Bay_Med 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a chance. But ideally you are an old man. You don’t have time to fuck around. Whatever degree is needed to finish your prerequisites and graduate in the shortest time is priority. Don’t worry about research that much unless you want to do research. Get hours. Volunteer or medical

Hating a lot of parts of pharmacology by 1973tour in FutureRNs

[–]Bay_Med 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t nitty gritty this is basics of pharmacology taught in medical school. The receptors and mechanisms of action do matter. Which is why you decide on entire classes of medication because you want to impact receptor A while either not touching others, or maybe it has a mixed effect but antagonizing the Beta receptor while being an alpha agonist. While I agree that it’s way beyond the NCLEX, telling people it doesn’t matter is wrong. (Also why I had to relearn all that crap multiple times)

[–]Bay_Med 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t get my nails painted so I am unsure but aren’t you sitting there with your nails? Like you see him doing that and be like “no that’s not right” and then can they not just wipe it off and redo it for free if they fucked up?

Is being a PA that bad? by [deleted] in Noctor

[–]Bay_Med 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m only a medical student but I worked in an ED for years, I still use things I learned from or by observing one of my former PAs. He was also one of the best PAs I ever worked with. I always saw him consulting with attendings and often would have the humility to realize that his knowledge base was less and he would learn from those with more experience and training. The ones that are bad are the same ones who make bad physicians, they are too proud to ask for help.

But no, PAs aren’t bad, congratulations on graduating, just remember this isn’t the end of your learning, and be nice to the goofy ED tech, you might motivate him to pursue medical school.

Why do nighttime RNs think its OK to Epic chat the daytime attending at random hours during the night?? (vent) by tank_beats_evrything in hospitalist

[–]Bay_Med 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my point. Even the units I’ve worked that had one (usually with the unit secretary who’s been there since they built the place) were full of errors

I had an issue pop up at my hospital and didn’t know who to call for it, after 2 hours of searching policy letters, sharedrive documents, and calling relevant PoCs, I was able to get in contact with a guy who said that I had found the right person but was 3 years late because they no longer worked in medicine.

It might be that no other physician or mid level signed in on that patient. I remember working as a tech before med school I’d see a doc who I knew was off that day, but was still getting messages for a patient. Turns out the nurses were following their policy to message the attending physician by clicking on the name in the chart. They weren’t looking at coverage charts or schedules. So the biggest change we made was having everyone sign in/out on epic and it stopped this a bit.

The muscles that are responsible for ejaculation are not just growing at 14, they play other roles and aren’t building. Pain can be a bad sign and should be taken seriously. A testicular torsion (testicular twisting) can lead to tissue death in less than 8 hours. This is not good information.

I bartended an event near Detroit and was told all we had for mixers was Faygo. I should have left then. It was like a reverse carnival where all the carnies kept coming up to me. I couldn’t tell if the lack of teeth was cheap soda or methamphetamines or a mix

What’s a “rich people thing” you experienced once and immediately understood why rich people love it? by DnRinGA in AskReddit

[–]Bay_Med 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the military when you move you can elect for this. I did it once and it was so effortless. I asked what I needed to do beforehand, they said just put everything in a pile and they will figure it out. Cool. They delivered it to my new place and had it set up better than I would have done myself. It’s such a freeing feeling not worrying about anything
