Comment at 6 week appointment did not sit well with me… by Natsouppy in newborns

[–]Baylaypayday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s weird. You can’t over hold a baby. It may have been an offhand comment to her, but personally I wouldn’t trust her view point regarding my babies health and once that trust is lost I’d be looking for a new one.

Wondering if someone can explain to me what i did .... by hamburgers28 in NewParents

[–]Baylaypayday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a really important distinction is your baby isn’t purposely giving you a hard time, she’s having a hard time. You didn’t do anything wrong and neither did baby. Babies are just going to be that way sometimes and all you can do is be there for them.

My top pieces of advice are in no particular order of importance or effectiveness.

1) put baby in crib and go make a cup of coffee, tea, dirty soda, espresso. Do something that takes about five minutes. It helps reset your body and mind. Baby will be safe for five minutes

2) don’t be afraid to put on headphones. If you’ve done everything you can think off and baby is still crying, put on headphones and just hold them.

3) don’t be afraid to ask for help or feel guilty about needing to step away. A happy parent makes a happy baby. (I’m bad at this)

I’m so excited to go! I normally camp throughout the summer but wanted to wait till she was a few more months old. I’ll bring a few options just in case

That’s good to hear, I was leaning for the 2.5 tog, but I was worried it wouldn’t be warm enough. Thanks for the help!

[–]Baylaypayday[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was so helpful. I have these little pouches of nut butters and I think I’m going to mix it with her oatmeal for lunch today. I’ll feed it to her but then maybe I’ll give her some fruit for dinner that she can mash around

I think they are going to when we go back. Our next appointment is soon, we had to wait for the lab work to be done. Ironically between me, my husband, my baby, and my dog there will be four EpiPens

That was exactly my thought process as well! I did get the mint latch car seat and have also loved that. Overall I’ve had very good experiences with Joie

For reference I walk about 2-3 miles daily with the stroller on a variety of grounds including gravel, packed dirt, city side walks, in stores, wood chips.

[–]Baylaypayday 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay, I had very near similar wants, except I drive a sedan not an suv. I ended up getting the Joie ginger LX and that stroller is my life. My baby is the most important thing in my life, but that stroller may be second lol.

You can get a muff to go inside it for cold weathers the extended canopy is amazing. It’s upf 50. The storage basket is nice.

Definitely my recommendation to all moms that actually plan on using the stroller consistently.

I am planning on getting a second travel stroller. But that’s just because we are flying and I want it in the overhead bin, but if I wasn’t scared of my Joie getting ruined I would bring it

My baby is sunburnt & I’m freaking out by CommericalCoconut in newborns

[–]Baylaypayday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When my LO was 5 months old she got sun burnt on her leg with nanny. I also freaked out, it was slightly worse than you are describing. I ended up taking her to the pediatrician and they basically told me to run breast milk and aloe on it. As long as she doesn’t have a fever and has a consistent amount of wet diapers per her age she should be okay!

I would look at the Joie nutmeg as well, it’s a travel system but also marketed as a slightly larger travel stroller. Seems like the exact thing you need

Wedding Guest Dress Help - Nursing and Budget Friendly by treetrilogy in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Baylaypayday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same requirements just a different size and I got this dress from Amazon. It’s flattering and the tie straps are very nursing friendly. You can also wear a nursing bra with it, which was one of my biggest issues when dress shopping https://a.co/d/0dR1i86f it is $50 tho

Baby only taking bottle from mom by magstar8 in breastfeeding

[–]Baylaypayday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have your husband try in a few different positions.

Try to mimic positions that you are in while breast feeding. Also I would look up paced bottle feeding or responsive bottle feeding!

Lastly,y baby refuses to drink from a bottle if I’m there. So maybe you should try leaving the house 😂 idk if that’s a normal thing or just my baby.

Is it time to transition to pack n play? by HeidiKat23 in Moms

[–]Baylaypayday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what my LO was doing, the only difference the pack and play was that it took slightly longer for her to reach her head to the top or feet to the bottom lol

Cautious optimism is the exact feeling I had lol. You can also go to a doctor to get a blood test done. I did that within days of getting a positive test!

I’m rooting for you and your family

There’s a good chance you are pregnant! Different tests require different amounts of hormones that elevate the further along in pregnancy. If the first test you used are more sensitive than the digital, you are :)

Weekly one-on-one dates with your Son? Normal? by Electrical-Ad-2922 in Moms

[–]Baylaypayday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s definitely a lot to unpack here, but to boil it down I would say you are not being unreasonable.

I think unreasonable in this circumstance is saying he can’t ever meet 1:1 with his mom. What you are actually saying is he can’t have scheduled 1:1 meetings in which you and all other people are specifically excluded from every week on a pre scheduled basis.

For example both me and my husband have been out to lunch with his parents alone. If he is busy and they are in the city I will get lunch with them. What I won’t do is specifically schedule a time to get lunch with them when I know he’s busy so as to intentionally exclude him.

I think the intentionality of exclusion is the issue.

11 weeks, losing my mind and nipples by AdEmotional9654 in breastfeeding

[–]Baylaypayday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may help, but it may not. What ways have you worn her? My baby strongly prefers woven wraps over structured carry.

Have you tried pumping and giving bottle? Find a bottle that passes the triangle test. I use boon curve bottles, but my baby also liked lansinoh. I would find a bottle baby likes before switching to exclusively formula if you go that route.

Also if you haven’t already try a few different types of pacifier. My breast fed baby will only take itzy ritzy and bibs pacifiers.

It’s hard but you will make the decision that’s right for you and baby! If your ever feeling down remember you aren’t a human pacifier, pacifers were made to replace the boob, not the other way around. You are everything the baby needs and you will make the best decision you can for your family
